    Pros

Supportive culture in some departments, flexible to work life balance, some good benefits.

    Cons

Lack of transparency at pay round, reviews etc. Some individuals still play the old political game.

    Advice to Management

Pay fairly and keep conversations open for reviews, will retain more staff. Try to align teams to push for overall good of business units rather than individual performance.

More open and honest communication with employees

    Pros

Such a large company has a huge amount of opportunity for personal growth and room to move around laterally. There is also room to move internationally which i would recommend to anyone.

    Cons

Progress can only be achieved by hard work and the culture can be aggressive as a consequence. Room to move upwards can be blocked lack of vacant roles to move into.

    Pros

Large bank with opportunities across almost all banking disciplines i.e Investment, Corporate, Wealth, Consumer, Cards etc
    Attempts to be progressive
    Global footprint

    Cons

    Confused culture
Poor HR practices some of them downright vindictive
    Highly fragmented and tribal organisation
    incoherent strategy
    lax approach towards employee care
Focus is on meeting targets irrespective of whether they make a difference or not
    Oft used/abused political lines are
    1. "it increases the operational risk" - without having to justify or explain how
    2. "this is not as per values" - which generally shuts up any dissenters as the next step is probably a disciplinary

    Advice to Management

You are haemorrhaging talent that can actually help you transform the bank
They are leaving due to high level of tribal politics, insensitive employee engagement
Your culture which started off quite well has become a joke as HR management flaunt it with no regard to implications
The last one is the biggest cause of bankers still being vilified in the society at large

    Pros

Money is very good, cannot think of anything else sorry

    Cons

Very very unethical business, management turn a blind eye to irregularities, they prefer to bury things under red tap. If you raise these issues as a whistle blower you get treated as a criminal. Best avoid and work for another investment bank or tech firm. Real shame because they have a few good people, however the management team left over from Mr Diamond is still operating and the new board is no aware

    Advice to Management

Look at how many people are leaving the firm having only just joined, even your number 2 Mr Jenkins has given you his notice. Its not a nice place to work, people are not interested in transforming rather then continue to get bonus at the cost to staff, suppliers and customers. Worst company I have worked for.

    Pros

I was lucky to have a great boss, but this was rare.

    Cons

Felt like HR worked against you, not with you. Recently changed to a vacancy-based promotion process so very difficult to progress in-role, particularly if you work in a small team with no room for new vacancies. They don't bother with exit interviews.

VERY political. People are often unwilling to change. There is a culture of over complicating things and people seem to try and make themselves seem more important/intelligent than they are.

    Advice to Management

CEO and CFO have good intentions to change the culture but this is not always reflected by their direct reports... keep bringing in people from outside of banking.

    Pros

    - Good training
    - exposure to senior management early on
    - Many chances to network- dinners / drinks events
    - Team were supportive and helpful

    Cons

    - Long Days ( I enjoyed the work so wasn't bad )
    - Location, taking the DLR or Tube to HQ adds a lot of travel time.

    Advice to Management

to expand the intern program to 1st year uni students, even if it was for a reduced length.

    Pros

Lovely people, good work life balance and believe in what they're trying to do strategically.

    Cons

Poor pay and virtually impossible to get promoted. Too many hoops to jump through

    Advice to Management

The internal promotion prospect should be quicker and easier than it is to go external and it's not!
