I have been working at Baruch College full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some great growth opportunities for up and coming professionals for building professional experience. Stable work environment. Lots of potential and possibility for an improved work environment that values helpful employee feedback.

    Cons

CUNY bureaucracy prevents things from getting done and is not an environment that really fosters personal (or professional) growth. There are many job lines that you can be hired on - they are not equal - health benefits on some lines are much better than others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider incentivizing employees based on performance.

I have been working at Baruch College full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some great people here.

    Cons

Almost all departments function as organizational silos where each have tunnel vision towards the others goals. Some higher level administrators believe in a hierarchical system which is flawed further by poor hiring practices. Creating buy in to implement a suggested model to streamline business processes is so difficult many times antiquated methods are used instead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire individuals who are young, qualified, and motivated. Allowing promotions based on a who's your best friend basis does not lead to good moral which will have a negative effect on student satisfaction and student success
