Pros
treated with respect by supervisors and other employees, safe, comfortable work environment. each employee is treated as a person, not a number, good communication with the supervisors. benefits are good
Cons
the only down side that i could think of is when production is slow and we are unable to get our full time 40 hours
Advice to Senior Management
continue to maintain a personal relationship with your employees, when people feel comfortable like at home, work thrives and everyone gets along
Pros
My co-workers Additudes towards getting the job done right....Team work!
Cons
Getting an occurence if you call in sick... face it ,people get sick, and we should not be penalized for it
Advice to Senior Management
We need 1or 2 sick days per year without getting an occurence.
Pros
Basic American Foods is one of the major employers in the area. They have GREAT benefits and good pay. They are a good community partner. Besides providing jobs in the area, the provide a market place for the farmer's commodities.
Cons
Recognition of contributions is minimal. Little to no advancement opportunities. Workers loose their enthusiasm & drive.
Advice to Senior Management
There is a group of Senior management that is more concerned about protecting THEIR jobs than providing a REAL contribution to the over-all company. They point fingers and make lay-offs sound like good solutions, while causing serious efficiency problems due to poor management. THEY are the group that reports to the top management, so Top management never sees the real picture.
Pros
The salary is good for my education level. The work is fun and rewarding. The location in SE Idaho is perfect for me personally.
Cons
Executives are going in a direction that feels wrong to me. I don't think they are being realistic at times and other times, they don't like taking risks at all.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to those of us who actually do the daily tasks and activities to find out the state of the company. Utilize the talents that are here more fully.
Pros
Company seems to be turning around. They are realizing how difficult it is to compete with the overhead being carried and that the money is made on the processing floor.
Cons
Depend to much on a piece of paper to run the company, especially on the process floor and maintenance. Experience and mechanical knowledge will really keep the profits up and employee satisfaction higher. Employees will make the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to keep us on track but not shove to much on the plates of the people trying to run the processes or maintaine them. Sometimes UPPER management is not getting the full picture of whats is happening at the lower levels,
Pros
there is no good reasons other then the pay is ok
Cons
management is for management and do not care about the employees unless you suck up to them big time.
Advice to Senior Management
Start careing about the employees and treat the everyone fairly across the board.
Pros
It's a nice company to work for since it offers a good work-life balance. The people are nice and helpful.
Cons
It is not a very big company, therefore it's a little hard to switch jobs and have opportunities of advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership is doing great. What I thought was missing was timeliness of decision making processes regarding the structure of groups.
Pros
The benefits from profit sharing are usually excellent. In the past this company has been very focused on the employee and that had a culture of everyone being a member of the BAF family.
Cons
Privately held company that doesn't have anyone in the family wanting to take the business on for the future. The feeling of family and the overall culture has deteriorated. Small things, celebrations, recognitions, and honesty have diminished to almost nothingness.
Advice to Senior Management
Make certain you are looking at the way you are doing staff cuts. You have already lost a lof of senior level people and that is having a major impact on the overall interest of the company. There has not been much knowledge transfer to a younger management team and this is a problem.
Pros
You are appreciated for the work you do. There are in depth performance reviews where you have an opportunity to say anything you want and the info you supplied is made part of your review for all levels of management to see. The goals are established with you being an important part of the setting and reporting on the goals. This way you know what is expected of you and there are no surprises at your next review. You also can establish goals for your own development and if out side help is required the company needs to agree in writing that the support will be given.
Cons
Their plants are located in very small towns
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the work to increase sales and diverify the product line
