    Pros

Learn about big print processes, become familiar with printing technologies, expand graphics portfolio and knowledge, apply studio photograyph and AV knowledge, gain a number of mentors, and improve client communication. No day is the same, there are always new projects and tasks to fulfill and learn from. A great vision of service and cooperation. Positive environment, and great pay for an internship.

    Cons

Extreme learning curve for those not accustomed to the "big league" desk jobs. Prepare to be stretched in multiple directions by all your supervisors giving you tasks. Interns tend to receive grunt work, so just have a good attitude.

    Advice to Management

I'd encourage a more organized, online system for interns to fallow when it comes to warehouse duties. I would also encourage to be transparent about all responsibilities and what is expected from the beginning.

    Pros

Basin Electric cares about its employees. It gives back to the community and offers employees many opportunities to give back as well. Our cooperative business model puts people before profits and holds true to our values of accountability, integrity, innovation and community commitment. The pay and benefits are extremely competitive and the family-focused environment provides for work-life integration and flexibility.

    Cons

Tough to find any. I bleed Basin blue, and all my coworkers do as well.

    Pros

Hopefully someone with leadership skills will buy them out.

    Cons

No leadership or team works skills. Basin is full of want-a-bees and clueless Narcisists. Do not go to work for them!

    Advice to Management

Leave and let anyone else run the company!

    Pros

Basin has some of the best benefits out there and they truly appreciate their employees. There are many opportunities for advancement. Since Basin is cooperative, people always come first from employees to consumers. Although every business needs to make money, Basin is one of the most people-friendly businesses you could find. People stay with this company until they retire because the company's culture helps employees take pride in what they do.

    Cons

No place is perfect, but overall, a career at Basin Electric is desirable.

  7. Basin is a cooperative. It's people first, organization second. Employees know they work for people, not for profit.

    Pros

Excellent benefits. The best retirement programs in industry. Solid future, people will always need electricity to power their lives. Great, rural, peaceful locations. Travel between facilities via private jet.

    Cons

Headquarters is in Bismarck, ND. The workforce is set, once a person is on board, they rarely leave and termination is extremely difficult. The company tends to be headquarters focused rather than generation focused. They sometimes forget where their revenue is made.

    Advice to Management

Focus on career pathing employees. Train the workforce and develop supervisors. There is an economic disadvantage to moving from union to staff. This leads to a much lower quality of supervision than should be presented.
