I have been working at Bath & Body Works part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good people and environment, family like atmosphere, very happy and cheerful, smells good, pretty store, and focus on good customer service! lots of free stuff!!

    Cons

Bad hours, floorsets go intill 5 am, competitive sales, if you do bad in sales you get no hours, competitive environment, not good with granting time off, schedule comes out late

    Advice to Management

Make the sales battle a little less competing. Atmosphere has been a little unwelcoming since spahs started. Be more balanced when making schedules and make schedules on time.

    Pros

It's a fun selling environment as long as YOU make it fun. You can form close bonds with your staff and peers and there's almost always someone there to help or answer questions. The benefits are fantastic, though it can be challenging to coordinate time off to coincide with the company calendar of events.

    Cons

This is an active selling environment if you're at the store level. You must be comfortable physically demoing on customers. You must communicate and engage with everyone who walks through your doors. If you're anti-social, this is not a position for you.
Advancing in the company can be difficult at times, but if you work for it, it can be done.
I was in the Chicago region so my experience differs greatly than the rest of the company. The Chicago region is where many company changes roll out, which can be very challenging with constantly changing policies, procedures, and technology.
Note: This is retail. There is very little work-life balance. Management is expected to work every holiday.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right people the first time. Avoid filling positions just to fill them. Provide managers with HR training and conflict resolution classes.
