Holiday season is very hectic, especially when it comes to hours.

    Pros

Fun people to work with, nice mall job that doesn't involve folding clothes, products are fun to work with.

    Cons

Conversion metric is irrelevant. People stand in front of the people counter going "in and out" and really they're just standing at the display in the entryway. However, they're counting as multiple people and potential customers entering the store.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the customer counter and conversion requirement.

    Pros

Great training for mgmt. Enjoyed new product role outs - lots of product knowledge training.

    Cons

Stressful regional visits. Too much paperwork bogged down the focus on cust service. Minimal payroll to run a store.

    Pros

You're able to work with exceptional people and you get a discount on the merchandise in the store.

    Cons

Hours are cut when the business has its slow schedule.

    Pros

Very flexible with schedules and pretty understanding when "life" happens. As an employee you get small testers every now and again when new product comes out so you know what you are selling.

    Cons

Hours can be overwhelming during the holidays, but they were always good at making sure you take breaks and don't get overworked.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

    Pros

The work environment is uplifting, fun, and loose. The customer base is loyal and fun to engage with. Work hours are extremely flexible with your schedule.

    Cons

No Commission despite promoting a "competitive" work environment. Hour shifts are too short and can interfere with the flow of a day. Sales floor is constantly updated requiring long all night floorsets.

    Advice to Management

Promote associates to be themselves around customers. Enforce the maintenance and organization of the back room e.g. Stock, Props, Marketing room. Promote sales goals and demos.

    Pros

Good work life balance, fun environment to work and train in, builds lasting relationships

    Cons

Time allotted for scheduling is tight. Some days more office time is needed them allotted.

    Advice to Management

Spend a little time in the shoes of the management to understand how to set time aside for office duties.

  10. One of the better retail jobs out there

    Pros

Everyone was friendly (except for one manager who micro-managed me) and you get lots of free things. You have to work late nights sometimes to make the new displays, but the store is closed to customers and management usually brings pizza and you feel like family with your co-workers.

    Cons

Pay was pretty awful. Micro-managing happens easily here, because they want you to have a very specific way you interact with customers. Sometimes it feels like you are reading a script. You have to push scents you hate onto costumes with management hovering over you watching your every move. Afterwards, they will go over your entire conversation with the customer and "correct" you. I was once told to speak in a higher pitched voice and to keep my eyebrows raised because I looked grumpy. (This is the only job that has EVER told me I didn't seem friendly). I'm a very friendly person. Finally quit out of frustration.

    Advice to Management

Don't cut people's shifts an hour before we have to be there, repeatedly. It's not good to have employees constantly "on call" only to not be "called in" for an entire week sometimes. Also, have faith that your employees know how to be friendly to customers. We are not robots, and we are not rehearsing for a play.

    Pros

The mangers were great, worked around my schedule. It is a fun and positive work environment.

    Cons

Not a laid back easy second job, actually a lot of physical work.
