Pros
It's a pretty simple job, you end up learning everything very quickly. The Benefits Package they gave me was excellent as far as health insurance. You're in the air conditioning, they give you your daily lunch break when you need it, they don't rush you. Always seemed to be well staffed even if someone called out.
Cons
Incompetent managers, and Owners. Lots of favoritism in the company. Lots of back stabbing. There seemed to be a lot of money going through the store with lots of profit but nothing to show for the Sales Associates as far as advancement within the company.
Pros
You gain a great deal of knowledge in a field many others know little about but use a lot in their daily lives.
Cons
The are not very many hours available for part time workers.
Pros
You will learn alot about technology.
Cons
Favoritism.
Upper management is incompetent.
Rarely receive raises.
Rarely are people promoted from within.
Must run deposits to bank at night after clocking out.
Upper management does not care about employees.
Employees are dispensable to management.
Customers will get angry with ridiculous policies you must enforce.
Hours are horrible (it is retail after all).
Bonuses are unrealistic and are rarely bonuses at all.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to what you're employees say.
Pros
I can find no pros other than a good Health plan
Cons
Low Pay, long hours, unappreciated, unrealistic expectations, aloof ownership, little chance for advancement, work holidays evenings and weekends, home life/work life lacks balance.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice to management would be to act as if your employees were actually important to you.
Pros
Work on your own. Not hard sales. flexible hours. Not to early not to late. options to promote are easy.
Cons
Can work all seven days. competition for sales. employees can talk behind your back. not really too much else to report.
Advice to Senior Management
None. the company is going well, and i think for the most part they are doing a great job! very hard these days.
Pros
The owners of the franchise in Carmel Indiana are good people and really seem to care about their employees.
Cons
There is little room for advancement in this company. You can get promoted to Store Manager but that is as far as you can go. Since they are franchised they are essentially Mom and Pop shops. Positions like General Manager and Area Sales Manager go to their relatives. Very little power and responsibility is given to the Store Manager. You have no control over scheduling, payroll, inventory, etc. You are essentially just another sales associate except you make a little more.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want your employees to treat this as a "sales" job you should pay them accordingly. I will be nothing more than a "clerk" for $11 an hour.
Pros
you learn information about lighting and batteries
Cons
Senior management always spends money they dont need to spend and they whine about cost, the price are way to high and they make you harrass customers almost pressure them to buy from the store. No matter how mich money you make for the store or how much work you put in they will not promote you if you have a life plan. To many cheifs and not enough indians and the guys running the districts in alabama and tenn. are very incompetent they never listen to the employees on suggestions and act they are god and never wrong even when clearly proven wrong.
Advice to Senior Management
learn how to manage and become willing to take ideas from employees
Pros
Decent time off when needed. Usually good people to work with at a single location.
Cons
Pay WAY beneath industry averages. A constant bombardment of corporate managers relentlessly complaining about failure to meet unrealistic sales numbers.
Advice to Senior Management
Lack of business 101 principles including buying, margins, and competition. Hire some people who understand pricing, negotiating, and economics.
Pros
Good benefits, great vacation and health care plan
Cons
Growing pains, poor clarity and set communication channels
Pros
You will get the days you want off
Cons
Management wanst you to sale even with no customers coming in and they wantyou to meet sales plans based on dreams
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your workers we do not want to harm you
