I worked at Bausch & Lomb full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good products that make a difference

    Cons

Employees come last, all about profits

I have been working at Bausch & Lomb full-time

    Pros

Bausch and Lomb has a strong company history, a large portfolio, a skilled and very friendly staff. They offer decent pay and benefits for the most part.

    Cons

Valeant's corporate strategy is challenging--especially the lack of emphasis on R&D. Vacation time is not at all impressive. Currently there are rounds of layoffs every few months which is damaging for morale.

I have been working at Bausch & Lomb full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

9-5 job with a paycheck. Decent vacation (3 weeks paid and 5 paid sick days), health insurance isn't too expensive, 5% match on 401k.

    Cons

2% raises (literally). Not a place to grow a career or get promoted. The level/pay you enter at will probably be the same when you leave. Layoffs every 2-3 years. Management stance is now "do more with less, be LEAN".

    Advice to Management

We need a better canteen, maybe let starbucks open a kiosk or something with actual coffee instead of the nasty stuff coming from the machine that had insect eggs inside it?

I have been working at Bausch & Lomb full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bausch & Lomb has great benefits, and great work/life balance. They have great people working here, but since the aquasition it seems as though resources have been stretched.

    Cons

It feels as though everyone is doing the work of at least 2 others. Under new ownership it seems like everything is about costs and saving versus producing the same quality products we used to produe.

I have been working at Bausch & Lomb full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

3 weeks vacation and good benefits

    Cons

The company was purchased by Valeant Pharma in August 2013. Since then the company culture has changed dramatically. People are overworked and can barely take a day off. The company let go of most Bausch + Lomb so whoever is left, picks up the work of the entire department.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people or your going to keep this revolving door going.

I worked at Bausch & Lomb (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good people to work with, excellent products.

    Cons

Once B+L was bought out by Valeant Pharmaceutical, morale tanked probably due to massive layoffs.

I worked at Bausch & Lomb full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting products, promote well-being, contribute to treating diseases

    Cons

Complex and inefficient hierarchy, structure in silos, poor communication.

    Advice to Management

    Think efficiency, not personal promotion

  10. Salaries are all over the place, depending on previous ophthalmic experience. Products are "me too", not innovative.

I have been working at Bausch & Lomb full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Brand name recognition and its a job!

    Cons

Managed care issues in the pharmaceutical industry has taken the fun out of this. No new and innovative products. Competes with generics. Salaries for employees that have been there a long time are terrible! If you make or exceed your goals one quarter, you get dinged the next quarter.

    Advice to Management

Need to readjust salaries to current market in order to keep talented people motivated. Goal setting needs to be challenging, but not unrealistic. Valeant just bought Bausch and a week of vacation that you could buy back is not available with Valeant, hence, a decrease in benefits. Very demotivating.
