Pros
Financially stable, good benefits and worklife balance. Talented people throughout organization.
Vast resources, strong belief in safety and quality control
Cons
The company innovates from outside by purchasing companies and technology instead of taking advantage of their employees vast knowledge and abilities. Management decisions are often kept secret and information is not shared freely in terms of organizational goals and research pipeline which creates an unpleasant political atmosphere. To survive here, you need lots of friends in management to tell you what is going on otherwise what you don't know will hurt you.
Advice to Senior Management
Share your true vision and scientific goals with your employees so that the atmosphere can be collaborative and everyone can work towards a common goal. If the vision and goals are only known by a few a divisive/ diminishing culture is created/ Your employees have great ideas we read and know our field, utlize us for innovation.
Pros
Solid talent across organization; good benefits
Cons
The deep cost controls do not allow for much personal growth developmentally or financially. Though the company is doing well, headcounts are not refilled. Very tense organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop playing favorites. Make decisions that are not based upon personal opinion but facts.
