Current Employee – been working at Baxter full-time for more than a year
Pros – Everyone is very nice, and the culture is very relaxed. Easy to move around internally.
Cons – Compensation is well below market. No one will ever be fired for any mistake of any kind. On the one hand that is very comforting for employees, but you end up with a lot of Director/Vp level people that have been there forever and have been entirely incompetent forever.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay people what they are worth, and have the guts to clean out those who are poor performers.

Current Employee – been working at Baxter full-time for more than a year
Pros – -Flexibility with hours and opportunity to work at home once per week
-Great benefits
Cons – -No accountability and follow through
-Poor training and lack of mentorship
-Management team is far removed from operations, therefore, each staff member has to defend for himself/herself or count on each other to get the job done
-No leadership/direction from the management team
-No consistency
-Work/life balance is being jeopardized as each team member is expected to take on additional projects and stay on top of the day to day work. Too many people doing projects and not enough people to cover the day to day work.
-No room for advancement
-No empowerment to perform the job that has been requested of the staff

Current Employee – been working at Baxter full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – good cafeteria, a few good people. Ludwig trying to change culture for the better. Nice grounds. get your bonus every year- company grows due to growth OUTSIDE of U.S.
Cons – Toxic environment that marginalizes people with solid competencies! Old school way of thinking, lacks innovation. Many people act in unethical ways and continue to get promoted. This company will be stuck while others excel past Baxter. Ludwig trying to change culture to no avail.- all the good ole boys are keeping new ideas at bay. DO NOT WORK HERE!!!! I am so happy I left. The grass IS greener elsewhere.
Advice to Senior Management – Embrace change. Embrace innovation. Reward the good and the ethical people. STOP promoting and keeping unethical, non-compliant people in leadership positions. Definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome- STOP THE CYCLE!!!

Current Employee – been working at Baxter full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good money, lots of overtime and also lots of overtime incentives, extra money on top of your base pay and overtime to work more overtime. Customer service pays $40k per year, base pay.
Cons – Lots of mandatory overtime, no room for growth in certain depts. Lots of favoritism. Not very flexible, for work life balance. Take it or leave it approach in Customer service dept.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop the micromanagement.

Former Employee – worked at Baxter full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I enjoyed the work atmosphere, the people, and the benefits. There are good opportunities for advancement and moving nationally and/or globally if you are willing to work.
Cons – As with many large companies, it is possible to become lost as just another worker. Sometimes moving up is more difficult than it would seem. There are more "hoops" to jump through than you may have in a smaller company. You have to balance what fits for you.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to Managers and Directors when it comes to promoting people to keep good quality people within the company.

Current Employee – been working at Baxter full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – It is a good place to start a career in the industry. The benefits are good (they used to be better but they are still good). The salaries are great for the area. They are open to training you and have a lot of good in-house training available.
Cons – Management was not transparent with what their goals were. Beware: they slavishly follow the management trend of the month (and then apply it thoughtlessly, incorrectly or where it might not be appropriate). They give a lot of lip service to good job performance, sharing ideas, promoting from within, teamwork, ethics, but those are ignored when inconvenient. Outstanding performance is not rewarded. Whether you have work-life balance depends on whether your manager likes you or not.
Advice to Senior Management – It is important that one is able to trust management and that employees are able to trust each other.

Former Employee – worked at Baxter full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Lots of options. Baxter is a big company so there's plenty of opportunities
Cons – Big companies have too many bureaucratic policies/procedures.
Advice to Senior Management – Someone at a higher pay grade does not necessarily mean that they should have more authority to make decisions against various functions. Baxter needs to eliminate condescending and rude leaders.
