I worked at Baxter (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities for improvement. Awesome dedicated people. Not many slackers.

    Cons

Too much opportunities for improvement. Sometimes, one may wonder why most of the things are not at the 'improved' stage. Fear of decision making at management level. Slow progress.

    Advice to Management

Make a decision, take a calculated risk. That's why you are paid the big bucks!

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the openness to listen to employees

I worked at Baxter (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a very interesting place to work as an intern and was very flexible with my needs as a student. I really liked my manager as well, she was always helpful and did a great job of explaining how things worked.

    Cons

Depending on what your age is, it's hard to find people in the same age group to get to know and make friends with.

    Advice to Management

Maybe give the intern a little more structure, as I felt like I could have helped out with other projects outside my main one.

I have been working at Baxter full-time

    Pros

Your growth potential will depend on your department as well as your manager. Alternate work arrangement is a nice perk that allows you to work from home.

    Cons

Most of the inefficiencies within the company revolve around evolve around employees that are content doing the bare minimum in their position just to collect a paycheck. These people are not easy to work with and make your job harder.

    Advice to Management

Stop waiting for the regular attrition to fix your issues. If you want to keep your talented employees from moving on, you need to pay them.

I have been working at Baxter full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, good salary, two vacation for the first year

    Cons

No promotions, managements are closed minded, over complicate things, a lot of corporate hierarchy, worst managements ever encountered, no motivation, only management are rewarded and not not the people who are doing the work. Company don't care about their employee

    Advice to Management

Change management and listen to your people before they start leaving in a truck load.

    Pros

omg, sooooo many! The best, I have to say, is the people I work with. People are cooperative, will take the time to really explain something to you (and not make you feel stupid), and genuinely want to do the right thing. And everything is transparent. The last company I worked at had more of a back-stabbing vibe (just by a few, but they polluted the overall atmosphere) and cliquish culture. This is just not the case at Baxter. Everyone acts like adults and is generous. My boss is more like a mentor. He is sort of hands off, but gives me the guidance and support I need.

    Cons

The drive to Round Lake sucks. But, considering that that is the ONLY con I can come up with, it's worth the effort.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. You do an awesome job of hiring top notch people.

I have been working at Baxter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great benefits, and a good way to get your foot in the door with a good company.

    Cons

ALOT. extremely micromanaged, low pay, managers dont care about their employees, terrible departmental communication. mandatory overtime.

    Advice to Management

If you treat your employees with respect they are more likely to stay in their roles. 1-2% raises isnt a good way to improve employee morale after a tough year.
