I have been working at Baxter full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere (depending on the department), Good people- again in general everyone I have come across is great.

    Cons

For me personally it is career suicice. Not a place to boost your career unless you are ok with wagging your tail.
Too many systems which are not compatible with eachother! It takes months to learn and gain access.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respond to those who ask for more challenging work and support management. Structure can be too loose for some groups.

I worked at Baxter full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Consistently profitable company that serves patients and health care professionals with a variety of medical devices, services, and drugs. Compensation was at market. Expressed company values are vanilla.

    Cons

Internal struggle between the BAX "lifers" who are just trying to ride it out until they hit their 85 points in the old defined benefit pension program vs. new talent brought in from other companies who want to change the culture and move at a faster pace. Lifers dislike newbies and a passive/aggressive counter-culture hinders faster evolution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the "dead wood", esp. from the top down. One of the GMs is psycho and needs to leave. Work-Life balance should be the goal, but unlikely with the pending split of "old" BAX vs. Newco (BioScience). Make internal change program ("Power Up") more than just a program du jour - make it stick.

I have been working at Baxter full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some great opportunities if you are in with the right people. There is also a very, very, very wide disparity between the level of service you get from HR, leaving many people to fend for themselves.

    Cons

Culture can be challenging as in any headquarters. However, with the recent announcement of the company split, there is a lot of uncertainty and not a lot of answers

I have been working at Baxter full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Awesome benefits plan, education reimbursement (100% pre-grad and 80% post-grad), ability to cross train in other departments, summer hours (work monday thru friday at nine hours a day, half day on friday)

    Cons

Excellent talent base makes it difficult to aquire a promotion (most employees have a masters degree or greater). Can't complain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More mentoring needed

I have been working at Baxter full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits, very competitive salary, good work environment

    Cons

must be able to deal with a lot of turnover/ change

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

minimize turnover in personnel, attempt to standardize SOPs so they are consistent. effective training of employees is an issue, mostly because SOPs change frequently.
