I have been working at Baxter as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Sense of community was nice.

    Cons

Spent a few months here as a contract employee and was never properly trained. If trained, it was not per protocol and incorrect since they were rushing to train. Not only that, most of their instrumentation were outdated. This is a common problem throughout all of QC. Often employees are forced to work extra hours and off schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider training your employees as this is a common occurrence throughout Baxter.

    Pros

You get great training and experience working here. The environment is what you make of it. DO your job and do it well, and you may be given opportunities for leadership. Definitely a great place to Network.

    Cons

Job will be tedious but you'll be able to handle it. The job doesnt pay as well as before.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When hiring your team leads, make sure they know what they are doing and didnt get the job just because they are your buddy. I've seen team leads who are awesome and can take your projects to the next level and other team leads that will drag you down but it's ok since they are your friend.

    I worked at Baxter full-time

    Pros

Seemed like a good company in interviews and offered a good salary

    Cons

Many managers have been there forever and have little external experience and lack business acumen. They don't understand and/or support strong employees which is why they were hired in the first place. Old school mentality and not a diverse workplace. Too many changes in recruiting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop managers so that they can manage experienced personnel. External professional activities help develop business acumen

Increased workload due to growth, no additional headcount in key support functions, and job uncertainty.

I have been working at Baxter full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for prior to the news of the impending company split. The people who work there are great.

    Cons

No work-life balance, getting temporary help is virtually an impossible request to fulfill at this time due to the impending company split and company-wide reorganization. The office culture is changing as some people are stressed, moving to other groups, or leaving the company, whether the decision was made by them or upper management through the company-split initiative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace direct reports on a one-on-one basis, and not rely on All Employee or Town Hall meetings that go into the broader view of the changes in the company to substitute for that. Employees need to know if they'll have a job after the company split and company-wide reorganization, and if they know this, maybe less people will leave the company prematurely. Take care of the staff you have now, and keep them informed at the individual employee level, and add headcount where it's needed.

    Pros

The greatest thing I can say about Baxter is you meet some great people.

    Cons

There is no such thing as having a life outside of Baxter. You never know what days you will work. The schedule changes daily and you have to plan your life accordingly. You have no work/life balance. They have a four week shut down that is plant wide but you only get two weeks of vacation. There are document changes daily which causes your work to change very frequently. Everything is inconsistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
