Pros
Team work, learning opportunities within hospital
Cons
low salary offer, non-profit organization
Pros
Overall has the right focus and is doing innovative things. The committment to training is a strong.
Cons
The environment in the IS shop is very poor. Teamwork is nonexistent and fear is the way of life. There used to be respect and an environment that valued the work and developed the employees and served the patients. That is gone.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the feedback
Pros
Very committed to employees, good orientation, I feel like they are there to take care of patients first not just focus on profits
Cons
some mangers are clueless and inefficient, and as usual out of touch with what its like down in the trenches, not enough vacation time
Advice to Senior Management
spend more time learning what the people doing the real work are up to, what hurdles they face, how difficult some obstacles are, come out of your office
Pros
Good pay. Good benefits. Latest technology -- computer equipment and software are current. Good work areas. Well managed departments with fantastic management.
Cons
You will not move up within the organization on what you know. If you want a promotion. Promotions are on who you know.
Pros
Lots of training! They really emphasize education and pay for it. My managers were very competent and professional.
Cons
I worked on a very busy floor, and sometimes none of my patients are able to be independent even with basic needs. Almost every shift I have a 'primary' patient that I do all the vital signs, accuchecks if needed, bathe, change bed linens, and chart I&O, everything a tech would usually do for the patient/RN. This is ok if the shift is going fine and the patient is somewhat independent. But occasionally the patient load is really heavy and its that extra little bit that can cause an otherwise busy day to go spiraling out of control.
Advice to Senior Management
Healthcare is a competitive business, but one more tech per shift on a busy floor can be the difference between retaining good staff and hiring a revolving door of new grad RNs and techs with no experience in a hospital.
Pros
flexible work schedule, great co-workers, great manager, opportunities for advancement, decent cafeteria, a lot of different work environments to try
Cons
pay behind industry standard, poor staff coverage at times making work environment stressful at times, can be poor communication among other depts.
Advice to Senior Management
adjust the pay scale to industry standard, provise adequate staffing during busy times. allow for better communication among departments for better harmony
Pros
Hospital accessibility-able to work near your community
Cons
Patients seem more important than the staff
Pros
Baycare is a company that is most of the time trying to do the right thing for the patient. It is not a compay that is driven by a shareholder's interest, unlike many other Healthcare Corporations of America.
Cons
The health insurance is not the best available. One of the downsides is that Baycare is a catholic based organization and their healthcare policies are still driven by that foundation
Advice to Senior Management
Give insurance coverage to your employees for fertility and birth control issues. Don't let the catholic dogma control the wishes and well being of our team members.
Pros
Best reasons would be the pay. I beleive baycare pays their IT staff very well maybe 30% more than other health care facilites!
Cons
Downside there is no growth for instance most people who start out in a position remain there indefinate or until they decide to quit. Employee Moral is low, often feel like there is no hope to move forward.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote within
Pros
They are very friendly and willing to work with you reagrding your life/schedules etc.
Cons
Sometimes management need to walk a mile in our shoes.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees-no-I mean REALLY listen to your employees.
