I have been working at BayCare Health System full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Working only 3 days a week gives you lots of time off to spend with family and friends.

    Cons

Must be good at multi-tasking, busy hospital with patients from diverse backgrounds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I love that upper management is always thinking of ways to improve the customers experience. We are striving to be the best healthcare system in the nation. We also give back the community with several different fundraising campaigns.

    Cons

The job board listing are mostly for PRN positions but full time openings can be found.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have a wonderful organization that provides quality patient care.

I have been working at BayCare Health System full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Education, benefits, people, salary, bonuses, technology is up to date and far above HCA- not for profit

    Cons

Not sure yet- I do not like the patient ratios on some of the units, but not critical care

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing to add- unaware of issues at this point

I worked at BayCare Health System full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There are a lot of kind, skilled, amazing people who work here. Unfortunately, management crushes them and either keeps people quiet through fear of losing their job (and since it is the main employer of the entire are of that part of FL, that is a huge deal). or has people turning against each other

    Cons

Management issues, where to begin? Discrimination against disabilities (in a hospital that works with said disabilities!). Conflict of interest between physicians the employees must see through the health insurance, and the health care system that one works in - leading to some serious issues. The raises are not even enough to make up for inflation. No upward movement. All about who you know, not very ethical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The prevailing corporate model of management does not work, and not only hurts your employees, but also hurts the bottom line of your business. Try to remember that you went into the health care field not to step on others nor to treat it like a business to make money off of others' pain, but instead you went into it to help those who were vulnerable.

I have been working at BayCare Health System full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There were not really many pros to working here, the pay was average, the employees were miserable and the management was tyrannical.

    Cons

Negative attitude by the entire staff of the financial office, no one was happy, mostly miserable with an undesirable boss who rules like a dictatorship.

I worked at BayCare Health System full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Managers were well trained for working with employees and inspiring them to be leaders. I was able to tell my manager my goals and she worked on guiding me to them. I loved getting my evaluation. I got to hear what people said about me and it reinforced my positive behaviors.

    Cons

Horrible healthcare. I didn't go to the ED for chest pains because our insurance didn't cover enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Better healthcare.

I have been working at BayCare Health System full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Get a pay raise every year, discounted tickets to events, yearly bonus for all employees

    Cons

As with all hospitals, it is a number crunch from upper management. Staffing is never optimal and we are forced to do more with less all the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would love to see the number crunchers do our job out on the floor with the staffing that they think is acceptable.

I have been working at BayCare Health System full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Access to cutting edge technology, lots of opportunities to train and learn different systems. The organization as a whole works hard to treat employees with dignity and respect.

    Cons

Not much opportunity to move upward, although the state that they "promote from within", I haven't seen it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When hiring for supervisory and management positions, maybe you should take a look at the people on your teams that have the experience and start there. Bringing in outsiders, without giving those already inside with more than enough experience, is not always a good thing.
