Pros
The people are friendly and it's a nice place to work
Cons
Improve the pay and benefits
Pros
Decent start for someone right out of school
Depending on your office....office staff are usually pretty nice
Monday through Friday schedule if you are not on call
Cons
Heavily stressful job
On Call Duties
Low Pay
Very poor training structure-basically there is no training in the office. They show you something once and then expect you to know how to do it 100%
They move you from office to office. I know some people that have to drive over an hour each way to their office when there are offices closer to there home.
Not enough staff in the office
High turnover rate in field staff
Company is trying to grow to fast with core values being tossed to the curb for profit.
TERRIBLE Benefits package.
Advice to Senior Management
Need more help for office staff
Pay field employees more and you wouldn't lose 50% of your field staff every year
Keep an eye out on directors, most CSM's do more work then they do and are more knowledgeable.
Directors I have worked for are very lazy
Pros
Have made great friends.
I receive great compensation. (It has been said behind closed doors that I am overpaid for my position as others hired after me have been hired in at a much lower salary. Would be great if someone was brave enough to be honest to my face about this.)
Cons
Most office and field employees are underpaid while those who have climbed the pyramid scheme are receiving huge bonuses off the profits from each office. The ones doing the work on the front line seldom to never see bonuses or well earned compensation.
I see lots of "secret society" behaviors from upper management as they plot ways to terminate lower management without just being upfront and honest and are constantly focused on ways to increase their own paychecks.
Little to no concern for what's most important in a person's life... their personal life and families. I have a friend who is an ex employee and got "written up" simply for taking a lunch break. Most office employees work well past 5 o'clock as this is expected. It is almost always expected that you will work anytime day or night to increase profits. And very few do a good job at hiding that this is financially driven and not patient focused.
Dishonestly is a part of the culture of this company. Some LOVE plotting the "backdoor" termination of an employee who is not a "yes man or woman". I've saw them sit around and smile while formulating these plots on many occassions.
This company is completely financially driven and is not focused on patient care.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't know where to start with advice to current upper management. Just know that you are not respected mostly because of the very obvious greed driven actions.
Pros
Great mission
Rewarding to help individuals who are in such a vulnerable state
Meeting amazing people with amazing stories
Performing many different roles - HR, Compliance, Financial Management, Marketing
Cons
Some managers only think short term.
The Client Services Manager is responsible for everything, making it difficult to perform all tasks at a high level.
I feel like a social worker sometimes (no offense to social workers). Lots of times you have to be involved in the personal lives of your clients and employees because they are working in the home.
Pay by commission - Your salary will vary from week to week based on external factors such as hospitalizations, medical personnel not going to work and the client deciding they don't want someone that day.
Advice to Senior Management
The mission, vision and values of the company are wonderful. Some people try to live up to it, while others don't.
The pay could be much better.
Don't sacrifice long term relationships for short term gain.
Pros
work in a different office
Cons
not enough clinical management support
Pros
Friendships established amongst coworkers keeps one sane.
Cons
No organization. Needs structural reorganization in inner offices as wells as from the top down
Advice to Senior Management
Need to understand and have a pulse of what goes on in the individual offices. Very High Turnover and no one seems interested in top management to understand or care why. They just keep hiring new replacements which is very costly. Very cult like atmosphere; phrases like "drink the Bayada Juice" They say they want people who think outside the box but when one does they are squashed. What they really want are drones who mindlessly work to reach the "numbers to generate a profit", which in turn gives the director a bigger bonus.
Pros
I hate to say everything is bad - I have worked with some wonderful individuals who very much care about the service provided and have the clients in the front of their mind.
Cons
Being said - the pay structure (comission based for the CSMs) makes the internal area unnecessarily competitive and silo'd. It makes the office more challenging to work in. The case loads are tremendous. Just thinking about the day to day makes my heart rush. It's overwhelming - the constant ringing of the phones & interruptions, another new policy or challenge. and its not to say that the work is "hard" and i just dont want to work hard - the work is unnecessarily complicated by a number of fixable factors. The first of which is the computer system, antiquated at best throws a huge learning curve and there is absolutely no training on it. this is problem #1.
the underlying stress level is overwhelming - especially when you know that your paycheck depends on getting an aide who makes $9/hr (or less!) to show up to work everyday. just isn't going to happen. so you do all that work, constant scheduling and rescheduling, just to have them not even go! its impossible.
i'd like to say that i feel satisfaction from filling a case - but its hard to when you have a million other problems to fix. there is no satisfaction to be gained. people just can't work like this.
Advice to Senior Management
focus on your office as a whole.. be real. please please level with us. we just want to know what you're thinking about, what the office is facing and how we can do our jobs better and more effeciently. there seems to be a 'group think' mentality among some of the upper management that makes the rest of us feel like we're walking on eggshells.
Pros
You can make you own schedual
Cons
not alot of communication between upper nursing and CNAs, no benfit at all.
Pros
Good cause, good leadership, caring co-workers
Cons
Lots of paperwork, not much diversity in tasks at work
Pros
Satisfation of helping people and working hard. Opportunity to make good money. Mark B. and some of the more established leaders have true leadership capabilities. Get to learn a lot about business managment.
Cons
Con is exactly what this place is. Upper level management doesnt have a clue what goes on day to day office. This company tried to establish itself as a leader in the industry by creating "The Bayada Way" of which is used to lure unsuspecting employees. Dont let this fool you. This is no more a part of their true culture than any other corporatation. The work is increadibly demanding, clients are constanly complaining, and retention of RNs, LPNs and CNAs is terrible. Office staff are expected to do the work of two to three people. Pay increases are based on increased sales/ work load. However if you exceed in sales they take your money to hire additional staff. Is this normal? If you have no intergrity and can tell anyone what they want to hear when they want to hear it this is the place for you!
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up. Stop taking away service office staff and adding support staff. Stop the highly encouraged gossip culture. Put your money where your mouth is. Learn to recognize true leadership (not those who talk the most or are in the right place at the right time) and cultivate it. Be honest with the type of work this company does. Address and fix simple problems that can help people be successful with their jobs. Micro management (not relationships) is how the south is being led. Dont let the positive numbers fool you. People are fearful, managemed by gossip. Be 100% honest with people. Stop hiding behind "the bayada way" and do some real work that makes a real diffence to those providing direct care and in the office.
