Pros
well known employer
very good corporate communication in place
Cons
too much politic, it is about who like you and who you know in order to grow professionally
Advice to Senior Management
offer more opportunities to minorities
Pros
Flexible Schedule and Family Oriented. You have the abiliy to manage your own territory while working with 2-4 co-worker
Cons
Your happiness depends on your manager. If you have a good manager who trusts you and you work hard, you will have a good job and good career. If you take advantage of the job and do not work, it is obvious to your manager and to your co-workers and you will be micro-managed
Advice to Senior Management
Managers should learn to trust the employees who work and go after the ones who do not. We all know it is hard to figure out who really works and who doesn't, but there are many ways to find out.
Pros
Reasonable place to work with a decent salary and benefits
Cons
You are silo ed in a job and very little interfacing between divisions. Management only advises employees on "good news". IT support is available but only if you have budgeted dollars. Priorities are often screwed up in some instances as a result. Little organized planning at anything below real senior management. Top management are in it for themselves ( re: stock price = their options $)
Advice to Senior Management
Take a page out of Warren Buffets book. Long term strategy results are better and less contentious to the employees......Look at how many employees you have laided off in the last 5 or 6 years vs. sales growth over the same time.
Pros
You get rewarded for your work.
How far you want to go in achievements limited only by your effort.
Cons
Layers of management and areas of responsibility sometimes blurred.

Pros
Great pay, great team to work for. Had a lot of good projects for the summer. Put a lot on my resume. Team was extremely knowledgeable. Boss was great (understanding, competent, intelligent, and just a nice guy). Still keep in contact today. Other parts of the company were good as well (IT support, HR). Very friendly atmosphere and receptive to your needs.
Cons
No casual friday. Other than that, very satisfied.
Advice to Senior Management
Put in a casual friday.
Pros
Immediate co-workers were great - willing to work as team, collegial. Acceptable work/life balance. On-site cafeteria and Bayer product store bonuses.
Cons
Senior management thinks highly of itself. Not willing to listen to your input if not on the same level. Once you have your position, it appears advancement is more political than merit based.
Advice to Senior Management
Be open to new ideas - especially to those less senior workers and American workers. Not all great ideas originate in Germany.
Pros
State of the art pharmaceutical manufacturing. Good location near the freeway 80. Certain groups and certain jobs could be good for certain career paths. Clean and new campus (most buildings). Walking distance from 4th st and other good spots for shops and restaurants, pubs etc. Cafe is decent. Not great, but convenient. The distributed campus makes for a good location for doing other job searches via cell phone etc. Some of the introduction training and ongoing training has really good, content, instructors, framework and good variety. Money is no object in obtaining the quality of product production necessary for FDA approval.
Cons
Most workers are treated like cogs in a machine run from Germany. Most local Sr. mngt is from Germany too. Though an industry wide problem, excessive paper work and red tape as mandated by the FDA make it very hard to make substantial change of even progress of any kind at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide better means for gathering feedback from employees. Provide more insight into future plans for business in the US.
Pros
If your actually hired by the company a good deal. But the likelihood of you ever being more than a contractor is slim and none. There are really very little in the way of good or positive reasons to work for Bayer Corp in North America.
Cons
A huge company that only cares about top people. Little to no focus or coordination between divisions. They treat employees poorly and contractors at sub-human standards. There is NO upward mobility. They do not recognize hard work or sacrifice. Management is so consumed with their own petty squabbles and finger pointing they do no actual employee management.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire people onto the company, and revamp your entire US IT organization.
