Pros
The people are about as nice as you'll find anywhere, the products are usually in the top 3 per category, its a very comfortable environment where everyone is treated with respect.
Cons
People don't leave often so growth opportunities are limited, particularly once you reach a certain mgt level. Its a very conservative company, so out of the box thinking is limited. Its a great place to work if you are a woman with a good head on your shoulders, as mgt is EAGER to advance women these days.
Advice to Senior Management
For the most part, you are doing a great job. Keep looking for rotational opportunities for your employees, strongly encourage (force) employees to broaden their experiences.
Pros
Family Environment, Work/Life Balance, Great Brands
Cons
Too collaborative, company culture is to hire people that are alike....not enough diversity, doesn't hire enough from the outside
Advice to Senior Management
Needs to hire from the outside to diversify workplace
Pros
The colleagues at BCC are caring, kind and generous. A great group of people working for the organization; most colleagues are a joy to work with. A high level of interest in volunteering and mentoring across the organization.
Cons
Upward mobility is challenging, unless in marketing. Crossover to other functional areas is difficult, if not impossible. Some employees suffer from apathy, which can impact day-to-day responsibilities. Management involvement is haphazardly applied. On-site HR is unclear.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage growth opportunities among the rank and file. Challenge the status quo. Encourage open and honest conversations across the organization.
Pros
company benefits are ok, culture is made by lower level employees which enhances overall motivation
Cons
still driven by old german method of doing business. new innovative ideas to go to business not even listened. hierarchy rules the company from top down. favoritism runs promotions
Advice to Senior Management
look at new ways to do business in the US. sometimes change is a progression. ehough with the old, welcome the new. balkema has no clue...others "sugar-coat" the reality of this company
Pros
Great pay, good culture, good brands, good benefits
Cons
Sr management at CC is lacking leadership abilities. Risk taking is very low. Takes forever and a dozen people to make a decision.
Advice to Senior Management
Take some risks and make decisions. Don't pawn the accountability and risk off to five different people.
Pros
Advancement opportunities, Benefits, Compensation, Good talent
Cons
Poor communication, Work and life balance missing
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication
Pros
feels like home to me
Cons
the job is never done
Advice to Senior Management
award steady , loyal performers
Pros
Friendly, Flexible time, not much pressure to get the job done
Cons
Not much pressure to get the job done so there is no real necessity to promote top preformers, promotions seems to be based on frienship rahter than achievements
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management needs to focus on their long termi vision rather than on montly sales. Communication top-down should improve or won´t get the best people in the market.
Pros
Great boss. Not too much politics. Lots of good, caring, smart people.
Cons
Can't think of any right now.
Advice to Senior Management
Do more to connect people across functions and reduce silos.
Pros
Bayer has accumulated great people from all over the CPG/OTC industry and put them together in one place. The culture is supportive and one can almost always assume positive intent. Great pains are taken to ensure continued employee growth and development. Random firings or layoffs are unimaginable, and the comapny reorganizations take place less frequently than at competitors and with less attrition.
Cons
The great culture and low turnover allow the company to underpay vs other consumer pharma and make it more difficult to advance. Many departments are top-heavy. The company is slow to get rid of employees who are on the wrong bus, despite how obvious it may be to those around them.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue building the organization globally, but don't let the US organization plateau and/or wither or you will lose the talent pipeline. The personnel are already in place to build a much larger US operation, all that's needed are the right acquisitions.
