Pros
They manufacture a superior product in Berkeley for the treatment of hemophillia.
Cons
Business decisions are made by German executives far from manufacturing site. Atmosphere is stifling and resistant to change.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow local managers more input into decision making process.
Pros
Superior products, products in a broad range of therapeutic categories, quality support facilities, generous product advertising and promotion budgets, extensive research pipeline, attractive incentive plans.
Cons
Autocratic management style prevails, top international positions often held by German nationals, management is poorly schooled in employee motivation, performance feedback from management is often unacceptably low.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should try to focus on potential opportunities exterior to the organization rather on adherence to proper functioning of the inner workings of the company
Pros
Bayer Pharmaceuticals is a very good place to work. They are doing innovative science that is both exciting and rewarding.
Cons
There is a bit of a moral issue there because of some recent lay offs. But overall everyone seems to be in good spirits and excited about their projects.
Advice to Senior Management
I think the leadership at Bayer is doing a relatively good job. It is very hard to make everybody happy.
Pros
Laidback atmosphere but employees are serious when things need to get done. Support by senior personnel and colleagues are excellent. Retaining jobs are more stable compared to other competitors.
Cons
Promotions are slow within company. Salary is low for positions within the industry compared to other competitors. Better recognition for work performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication and feedback on work performance.
Pros
Resources of a large company, flexibility, good work life balance, understanding management
Cons
bureaucratic, conservative, slow, old-fashioned, older
Advice to Senior Management
Hire young, fresh, motivated people
Pros
help the patients out with their needs
Cons
limited or non-existent career advancement
Advice to Senior Management
focus on employee development and growth
Pros
It is a stable job.
Cons
Treated as just a number, recognition for job well done few and far between, promotions are a joke.
Advice to Senior Management
Make up your mind and don't pit your employees against each other.
