    Pros

Good pay, decent benefits, friendly co-workers, decent work/life balance

    Cons

Supervisors hire friends instead of most qualified people! A few years ago, hiring was based on seniority. Employees were more satisfied as they knew as long as they were good workers, they could move into other positions in a set time frame. Now, supervisors can hire whoever they want regardless of the qualified employees who are already employed with Bayer!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to hiring people based on seniority- things were done more fairly then!

    Pros

Most of the people are easy to work with and your sense of purpose can be fulfilled by the fact that you are helping improve the health of others.

    Cons

Upper management biased and very male dominated. If you are in a management position, you are often required to sacrifice your weekends for travel.

Current Employee - Senior Sales Consultant

    Pros

There are the upsides that come from working for Big Pharma. Bayer has a very Good Training program - Reps are armed with skills to do the job. Bayer marketing department is very good. Reps get very good sales tools, and marketing responds to needs voiced by the field. As a rep, the benefits are standard - car, insurance, 401K. These are great. Bayer hires - most of the time - good people - peers are supportive.

    Cons

Layoffs, lately, seem to come more frequently. Very sad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.

Former Employee - Intern in Berkeley, CA

    Pros

Professional work environment, high standards of business and engineering ethics, knowledgeable and friendly employees. Open atmosphere and there seemed to be good room for advancement. For a college student this position was a great opportunity to work in a professional environment.

    Cons

Pharmaceuticals in general is somewhat of a niche area for work from an engineer's point of view. Supporting manufacturing can potentially lead to stressful work maintaining uninterrupted operations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management seemed competent and respectful. As an intern I had no real complaints or issues with any level of management.

Former Employee - Quality Manager in Berkeley, CA

    Pros

The company allows good advancement within the company and between departments. They have good life-cycle management and works hard to improve their products.

    Cons

Inter-facility interactions are minimal. Not much discussion occurred with counterparts from other facilities, which ends up with inconsistency between facilities. Even something as simple as SOPs are not visible between different facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Work with other facilities more.
