Pros
Decent work life balance, but getting worse as layoffs mount
Above average pay
Decent people, generally care about your well being
Cons
Everything is over engineered
Complexity is built in to support job security
Internal IT department is a disaster, pushing more and more work outside given incompetence
Poor outlook financially......gotta fix the top line for sentiment to improve
Little career flexibility across organizations (people tend to be stuck where they are)
Advice to Senior Management
Little more guidance on career paths
Cascade more information down and across groups
Reduce the internal complexity and unnecessary overhead
Pros
Wide range of opportunities to get experience
Great career planning support
Competitive compensation
Management gives you second chance
International mobility
Cons
Bureaucracy is thick (great company policies are twisted by bureaucracy that result in frustrated employees and lost time. Simple things like company phones, rules for using company computers, extending business travel over weekend can be nightmares)
Advice to Senior Management
Embrace 21st century working styles by offering flexible and open working conditions. For example, erase the wall between work and life and let employees decide it. Focus on quick acquisitions and aggressive competition with generics. Eliminate cost pressures and establish best-in-class cost competitiveness by restructuring manufacturing and supply chain.
Pros
Decent compensation and benefits, and some flexibility in work schedule make the workload tolerable.
Cons
Poor career development and a lack of career advancement opportunities within the company make a prolonged career at Bayer unattractive.
Advice to Senior Management
In order to hold on to talented personnel, management should spend more time looking for ways to develop personnel and offer opportunities for career enrichment.
Pros
open culture and solid employer
Cons
limited career opportunities at higher levels
Pros
Empower employees to strive to make a difference within the Company
Cons
Think globally and work locally can create challenges for implementing effeciencies
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to challenge the Global organization to meet or exceed business needs in the local markets
Pros
Nice people to work with
Relaxed working environment
Cons
Hard to excel in the company (no room to move up or develop career in the company)
Someone can be doing a very good job in the company and still be a contractor after working here for several years
Management style is weak
Lack of training for employees, most training is just online (lack of training for specific departments whereas other companies would send new employees off for a week of training)
It is hard to get work done here because of the process (regulations, approvals, etc) it takes to do one little thing
Advice to Senior Management
Need to provide more training for your employees other than just online training
Need to open up more room for employment because people work here for too long to just be contractors
It is hard to get work done here because of the process it takes to do one little thing
Pros
NIce peers to work with
Cons
Emeryville site is closing boooo.
Advice to Senior Management
nothing
Pros
There is no reason to work at Bayer Healthcare except for a steady income and benefits. Health benefits is also not that great.
Cons
The management at Bayer Healthcare is not transparent with their decision for the company. They decided to shutdown the site from the beginning at day 1 when they take over the manufacture from Novartis, but they kept it a secret until recently.
Pros
Stress free environment
Great benefits
Team centered work atmosphere
Cons
Poor communication between senior management and rest of company
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate better. If you don't know, say you don't know instead of making up responses
Pros
Well respected by customers.
Strong history to the company.
Has some very interesting drugs in the pipeline, providing the marketing background is done before launch and not after.
Cons
Constant change in structure meant that there was a regular look over the shoulder to check what is coming. Difficult to plan for the future when the route to the destination kept changing.
Amateurish in the approach to what could/should have been big pharmaceutical brands.
Thinks is a big pharma company but acts like a small one.
Advice to Senior Management
Act on the feedback taken every year from staff surveys and don't just make it a paper exercise that is presented back and stuck in a drawer somewhere.
