    Pros

Work hard but benefits really good. Sells objectives are good but hard to reach. You earn your money!!

    Cons

Work with thin staff so have a lot on your plate. Large territories with multiple products. Difficult to manage and grow business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good managers but need to listen more to subordinates and field team who know what customer issues are.

I worked at Bayer HealthCare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent health benefits, great office workspace and employee perks.
Met many awesome people - great teamwork and leadership overall.
Loyal employees, hard-working and honest people.

    Cons

Many employees had difficulty 'getting on board' with constant change and increasing demands as the company went from MEDRAD, Inc. to Bayer Healthcare. Double-digit growth expectations amidst major corporate restructuring and regular changes in business operations. Lots of pressure to conform and perform (corporation ideals), moving away from the previous mindset (company is family, as it was at MEDRAD). Sad to see the changes in the company affect long-term (formerly very happy) employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to hold onto the 'family values' that were once MEDRAD, even though the company is now completely Bayer Healthcare.

    I worked at Bayer HealthCare

    Pros

Great 401k and work life balance. Good opportunity to learn and take ownership of projects and run with them.

    Cons

Poor culture; legacy employees blame big company for all of the business problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to comb through some of the legacy employees and transition certain people into more productive roles.

I have been working at Bayer HealthCare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Don't typically push anyone out. If you want, you can spend you entire career here.
The new CEO seems energetic, with good ideas, and a long term vision.

    Cons

To call them austere would minimize it. Extremely bottom line focused, at the expense of long-term growth.
Passive aggressive culture. People are very nice superficially, but don't reveal their true motives.
Very bureaucratic and slow decision making.
It's not what you do or accomplish, it is who advocates for you. It's about who management is comfortable with, not who is most qualified.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make promotions based on merit, not who is liked more or more well connected.
Set up on boarding for all new employees, both internal and external hires.
Focus more on the long term, not the short term.
Provide more transparent career and succession planning.
Promote strategists and people who have accomplished, not "potential".
Spend for the long term instead of bleeding assets for every penny of profit.

I worked at Bayer HealthCare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, nicely lit new building, long-time workers adaptive to changes in leadership. Despite lowered salaries, newly outsourced employees still maintain a professional demeanor with their former company's interests as their goal.

    Cons

Top level and senior management are "latest trend" oriented and kept distanced from issues and decisions made by poorly skilled lower management that negatively affect many employees.

New open office concept creates loss of productivity as many employees spend time looking for places to have private conversations, meetings and interviews.

I worked at Bayer HealthCare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I liked the people I worked "with"

    Cons

As a director, moving up in the company is out of the question. The people who get the promotions have managed to politically climb the ladder to success by knowing how the "good ole boys" networking works. Positions for upward movement are never posted - not even within - those decisions are made by who you know not what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management teaches Succession Management but does not use the tool to promote from within. Successful people have to look elsewhere.
