    Pros

Meeting and greeting family members and other visitors who come to the floor.

    Cons

Everyday was challenge, working with the nurses and pregnant women you never knew what was going to happen next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you have great people working for you. People who love what they do and are dedicated, it really helps to let them know. And not always find fault or add more on them

I have been working at Baylor Health Care System as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    Good people, and great facility
    Adequate compensation.
Positive morale and attitude of colleagues is helpful, as well as the laid back atmosphere around supervisor.

    Cons

Not always given the opportunity for growth.
Sometimes bureaucracy takes precedence over the obvious choice, and this leads to rifts within departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to advice and suggestions from colleagues. Use this to increase efficiency of the working system,
as well as the working conditions of employees. Adequate conditions leads to good work from good people.
Great conditions leads to great work from good people, and the ability to demand great work from sub-
    standard people.

I have been working at Baylor Health Care System full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great physicians and a place to jumpstart career. Very supportive physician and nursing crew.

    Cons

Pharmacy is a mess which was made worse by a new terrible system director of pharmacy with her incompetent rats - running the pharmacy department to the ground. If you are highly talented and skilled, and a pharmacist beware of accepting a job at any Baylor hospital in the Dallas Fort Worth area. You will not last because you would be made miserable for trying to advance pharmacy practice. Complete lack of team focus and support among the pharmacists and their management

Baylor's practices and treatment toward employees puts a shame to their Christian ministry doctrine. Management lacks integrity yet its listed as a core value.

HR staff is untrained, uninformed and do not follow proper protocol. Minorities beware!

I think all of this is because Baylor prefers to hire under-qualified individuals to keep compensation low

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your current pharmacy leadership (from top to bottom especially those at corporate and BUMC) and hire competent pharmacists who have the proper leadership training and experience to provide pharmaceutical care to your patients.

I worked at Baylor Health Care System full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Baylor has a solid reputation in the DFW area and the corporate location was ideal.

    Cons

I loved the people I was working with/for but knew they posed a barrier to growth. There is little-to-no churn in the HR function and the company likes it that way. Unfortunately it does not allow for growth. Also, there were unwritten "policies" that nobody below a Director level would have access/exposure to Baylor Senior Leadership, regardless of the level of work provided toward a particular initiative, innovation, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow members of your team(s) to gain visibility, exposure, and experience in presenting their contribution to initiatives or their innovative ideas that improve business operations or outcomes. Leaders are only as good as those who follow them. Don't hide your talent under a political bushel - Let their light shine!

    Pros

Plenty of hours and availability, people in the company genuinely care about patients, some (not all) supervisors are willing to mentor and train you

    Cons

VERY cliquey culture, difficult to move up unless you are really "in" with upper management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more willing to promote employees who work hard
