    Cons

Everyday was challenge, working with the nurses and pregnant women you never knew what was going to happen next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you have great people working for you. People who love what they do and are dedicated, it really helps to let them know. And not always find fault or add more on them

    Pros

Everyone was very friendly and easy to work with. High caliber of associates. Liked managing projects that would ultimately be mpacting the overall patient experience. Very employee focused. Enjoyed working for my Manager who was very professional and supportive.

    Cons

Working in healthcare industry can be highly beaurocratic with many governance committees so making decisions can be a slow process. I thought the benefits would be better working in the healthcare industry.

I have been working at Baylor Health Care System full-time

    Pros

Overall a great culture and I'm lucky to have a good team. When I have down days they seem to sense it and let me know I'm appreciated. Also appreciate the flexible schedule, willingness to let me learn new things (they seem to really like that in employees), and a focus on patient centered care. When people go out of their way to accomplish something or do something nice for a patient - they let them know it's appreciated. I feel the compensation is fair and benefits similar to other local organizations.

    Cons

Lack of discipline in some areas of IT - do not always like to take the time to gain clarity about efforts, do requirements or plan things out. Rogue projects fly under the radar.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Can't speak for the rest of the company, but the vision/values of IT doesn't always seem to get passed down to the right people. The flex time and remote days are great perks for IT which I would strongly encourage you not to dismiss in the merge process.

I have been working at Baylor Health Care System full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    1.) Caring employees
    2.) Visionary leadership
    3.) Implementing a just culture
4.) Utilizing innovative techniques and methodology to achieve quality care (e.g. lean, human factors, data driven healthcare, etc)
5.) Priority on a work / life balance
6.) Large organization with room for both lateral and upward movement
7.) Merger with Scott&White demonstrates a focus on the future
8.) Restructuring the system to be able to thrive in the new model of healthcare

    Cons

1.) Corporate structure (both on the healthcare side and corporate side) are varying, the ability for employees to have a clear path to advancement varies
2.) Buildings, offices, conference rooms, etc are either (1) incredibly nice or (2) in rough shape depending on where you are located
3.) Just culture is a hot topic, and Baylor is achieving movement toward that goal, but isn't there just yet
4.) Like all healthcare systems in today's world, staffing is an issue

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1.) Focus on adequate staffing
2.) Remodel conference rooms, offices, and lobbies to at least meet a minimum standard. Some locations are unbelievably beautiful and some are very tacky
3.) Focus more on creating a pathway for successful, visionary employees to move up within the company so they stay at Baylor instead of looking for new opportunities
