Pros
Baystate Health was, by far, the most progressive, employee-centric organization I have ever worked for. After being laid off, former employees' names are kept on a first-contact list for one year. They are also assigned to a recruiter, who assists them with future employement opportunities at Baystate.
Cons
I had no negative experiences working at Baystate. However, even though I had a recruiter and had applied for numerous jobs, I was passed over again and again. I have a college degree, several years of relevant experience and all the required computer skills for these jobs. The positions I applied for were administrative assistant jobs, and I had all the qualifications and then some. Time and time again, however, I was told that the hiring manager wanted someone who had worked as an administrative assistant. One hiring manager who interviewed me expressed concern that I would be "bored."
Advice to Senior Management
Just because someone might appear "overqualified" for a position does not mean that candidate would not be successful and happy in that job. Please do not make assumptions. Beyond that advice, keep up the good work.
Pros
Helping the community, improving health, good commute, enjoyable workmates, good insurance plan, never had a issue with a health or dental claim
Cons
Not great on education opportunities, largely ignored by management unless an issue errupted, lacking performance feedback, no formal review, no written goals or objectives, wide salary gaps among some grade FTEs
Advice to Senior Management
Favorable view as great place to work has declined, some good leaders have left the organization and some hired over the last 3 or so years are ineffective.
