Pros
Fun environment/great coworkers
Ability to learn and grow with the company
They take care of their employees
Promote team building/great work outings
Reward hard work and great work ethic
Open communication
Beautiful office/environment
Cons
It is a challenging job, but it keeps you on your toes.
We are the only office on West Coast as of now.
Very competitive market.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep bringing in great talent.
Keep doing monthly reviews/discuss goals regularly to motivate employees.
Always create a positive, and uplifting environment.
Pros
Surrounded by people that work hard and enjoy what they do
Opportunity for upward mobility
Rewarding compensation
Talented team and reputation
Cons
Depending on your preference for type/size of company, the west coast office is a satellite office that is small. It is far from corporate over in Boston, but I think this could be viewed as a positive too!
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to value your employees and encourage a good work/life balance. Be selective in the hiring process to ensure that the best people with excellent work ethic are joining the team.
Pros
Flexible work environment
Good group of co-workers
Cons
Pay was low-they promoted that they had the best commission structure in the industry-but that is not the case at all.
Back stabbing-lies-
Metrics driven-thought they said they are not
Managemeent thought they were untouchable and superior
Expected long office hours
Advice to Senior Management
Get an experienced branch manager in some of your offices......and check your egos at the door. You don't pay well compared to your competition.
Pros
Most of the other recruiters were great people and fun to work with, you have potential to make decent money, access to a range of different job boards
Cons
Awful management, a lot of gossiping, unprofessional, difficult to focus on own work, constant micro-management, lack of privacy, constant stress, high turnover. Within my division, very few of the recruiters actually wanted to be there and dreaded coming into work on a daily basis. There was a lack of a team environment because management would pick and choose who she would support. Not somewhere I would recommend working.
Pros
The company does a lot to try to make it fun: happy hours, "beers in the bullpen" on Fridays and quarterly outings. The location in downtown dc is really nice.
Cons
35k base salary. Very stressful environment and limited time off. Very long hours, usually at least 10-12 a day. Most people in the office are pretty negative and complain non stop, with good reason, but it's a grind. Staffing is hard but its even more difficult with crummy management and no real leadership and you never know where you stand. I would not recommend working here.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be helpful to have meaningful performance reviews. It would also be helpful if the team knew the financials of the team (why this information is kept secret is a mystery to me). Take a hint from the incredibly high turnover in this office. During my time at BH I saw 8 recruiters and 2 sales people come and go in the period of 1 year.
Pros
- Excellent compensation (both base and commissions).
- Management that understands there are different ways to get the same job done.
- Team mentality with a culture that wants everyone to succeed.
- No micro-management / not metric driven.
- Fun working environment with a good balance of focused work and socializing.
Cons
- No other offices on the West Coast, yet. All other offices are on East Coast, Mid West and South.
Advice to Senior Management
- It would be great if there was a more centralized / automated reporting system to be able to readily see how you are doing compared to your colleagues throughout the country.
Pros
Good entry level experience
Fast paced environment
Cons
Long hours
No room for growth
Lack of communication between team and management
High Stress level
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to clearly and effectively communicate with the staff without constant contradiction.
Pros
Very energetic office. It's a fast paced job that will keep you busy all day. This is a job for people right out of college where you will learn a lot about the job market. Fun Christmas party in Boston!
Cons
Terrible environment to work in. You will feel guilty taking your lunch, a holiday, or leaving before 7pm. No benefits for your first three months, plus commissions are low and take months to pay out. Definitely not for the experienced recruiter. Very high turn over and low morale. ZERO TRAINING. Selling the jobs they have makes you feel like a used car salesman and every "deal" is a battle.
Advice to Senior Management
Look into new management that doesn't drive away all of its employees. Most people quit within 6 months. The company is a good idea, but the Washington, DC office is a joke.
Pros
They pay on time. Strong Client relationships. Good for fresh college graduates. Big client names look great on the resume.
Cons
They have an obsession for weekly timecards. For experienced techies, this is not the place. They agree on a certain rate and after client interview bargain with the rate to increase their margin. I will never work with them again.
Advice to Senior Management
The people you are hiring aren't cattle or commodities. You need to perhaps go work with them now and again. Your recruiters micromanage consultants.
Pros
Small company feel, great managers that care about employees. Excellent Senior Leadership and communication. Pleasant work environment, fun but hard working colleagues.
Cons
Job itself can be repetitive, only 2 weeks vacation.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work!
