I have been working at Beaconfire RedEngine full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team is made up of some of the nicest, smartest people I've had the pleasure of working with. The company is well-run, and most projects are well-managed. You can take on a variety of roles there within your job if you show interest and aptitude. They are always looking for ways to improve. Great work/life balance and flexible work setup.

    Cons

There is not much opportunity for advancement - it's a small firm, and there aren't a lot of layers of management (which is nice), but this means that there are also not a lot of ways an employee can advance in terms of title or big salary bumps. Internal teams could be better-managed; we often solve the same problems over and over again.

    Advice to Management

Put stronger internal managers in place of the teams. Create more opportunities for career advancement.

    Pros

Flexible work environment - very flexible about working from home and having an odd schedule to account for child care, etc. Good place to work if you have a family Smart people - the people are very smart Work life balance - generally a 40 hour week, with exceptions

    Cons

Little room for advancement - not a clear path for career growth, if you are a go-getter you can try and push your way through it. If you simply want a comfortable job this would be a good place for you. Risk averse and not innovative - more of a play it safe company

  3. Risk averse & defensive leadership.

    Pros

Great people work here, a lot of fun memories made. Leadership is very smart and generally transparent about what is going on with the company.

    Cons

The senior leadership doesn't like risk, which may have something to do with why it isn't the most creative firm. Some members of leadership team struggle with communication and emotional intelligence.

I have been working at Beaconfire RedEngine full-time

    Pros

Rigorous focus on work/life balance means you're out the door at or near 5 every day.

    Cons

Really detached management from work force. Corporate culture is weak and getting weaker.

I worked at Beaconfire RedEngine full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beaconfire is very well run, and has set up a system to ensure a good work life balance and maintain a healthy professional environment.

    Cons

There are processes for everything, which leads to high levels of efficiency but reduces opportunities for creativity.

  7. Incredibly well run company, smart staff, not too much internal innovation

    Pros

The senior staff are amazing, and have developed a well oiled machine. It's the most efficient place I've ever been, and they do great work for their clients. There is a strong focus on employee happiness, and the work life balance is amazing. They have a great benefits package, which includes a professional development budget for every employee, great health benefits, and lots of other perks.

    Cons

The ideas that come out of the company aren't very radical, which is to be expected since the company primarily works for the largest nonprofits in the country. The work product is solid, focused on satisfying business goals, but there isn't often too much out of the box thinking. They're working to change that, but there's still a lot to cover.

  8. Smart co-workers, good work-life balance, no mobility
