Pros
Great industry, lots of fun perks. People love to talk about what you work on and are always passionate.
Cons
Going through a lot of change. Tough time to work there. The changes have been going on for 3 years now.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to learn to accept that mistakes are a part of business and that you can learn from them and move on
Pros
The benefits are outstanding. 401k match, profit sharing, and pension. Plus lots of PTO time and of course, product reimbursement
Cons
The uppermanagement in IT is incompetant. The entire structure is misorganized and favoratism based on friendships run rampant. They continually bring in different upper management that is equally as inept. A case of the blind leading the blind. A major reason for my leaving.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring in someone who is not a paper pusher. Who is familiar with IT technology and does have vision. Organize the structure as every other major coorperation has. Quit playing favorites and put the most knowledgeable people in charge
Pros
Good young crowd of people working for a 1970's style of management. Little to no engagement in company affairs
Cons
Literally just punching the time clock. Different departments literally work in a silo and there is no cross communication. Any communication is adversarial. The goal is not to hit a home run, but to beat the other departments.
Advice to Senior Management
Trust the younger people. They can learn from failures and mistakes. Fear should not be a motivator.
Pros
We have summer hours and only work 37.5 hours the rest of the year. When you need time off management is pretty cooperative and do not make you feel guilty about doing so.
Cons
Higher management is very secretive about everything. There is no real career planning. There are limited opportunities for advancement. The location of the company is in the suburbs which is not convenient for people that want to live in the city. The company is very behind the times and slow to react to change as well as unwilling.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward, compliment, and compensate good performers. Nurture and educate employees that you see potential in.
