    I worked at Bear Stearns

    Pros

What can you say, just a great place to work and thrive. Credit derivative analysis was my favorite part of the job.

    Cons

If you were looking for long term opportunities, maybe this company was not the most ideal place to be at.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the management... I just have one minor criticism and request for you: Please pay me my year end bonus... please!

    Pros

Best of Breed. I've worked in the Wall Street world for 25 years and in general, Bear Stearns has the best of everyone.

    Cons

long hours, got to pay your dues. sometimes difficult to get recognition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward the little guy, he's the one who really gets the work done. Without him, the trade doesn't get completed.

    Cons

It no longer exists and compensation could have been better for all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too bad you didnt see this coming. I feel much more could have been done to avoid the obvious outcome.

    I worked at Bear Stearns

    Pros

Some of the people were terrific and incredibly smart and talented. As long as you achieved success, you had discretion over your work.

    Cons

Some of the people were incredibly fearful and kept diligent watch over their departments, e.g., the fiefdoms that McKinsey accused Bear of having were 100% true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should not have protected fiefdoms and politics... it was a great firm brought down to its knees. Management should have been proactive instead of believing that if a firm could hire during the Depression, they "could not fail". The market is fickle and can be as devastating as it can be rewarding.
