Pros
clear path of advancement, lots of opportunity if you work with the right people and can show your potential, lots of travel (depends on how you look at it)
Cons
terrible upper management, no clear direction as a company, ship has been sinking ever since kpmg separation, hard to succeed if you don't get in the right group, little to no bonuses
Advice to Senior Management
focus on fixing financial situation, reward your employees or they will leave - they are your IP, stop coming up with new 'frameworks' when none of them work
Pros
nice people that were concerned with doing a good job, but watched their own back- it was also difficult to see the end result
Cons
was kind of difficult to know the firm's direction because it was always shifting - the opportuity to make a lot of money went away
Advice to Senior Management
just do it do it do it do it do it - they got too concerned with making it work for each other and not the client
Pros
Good Place to work, colleagues are cool people.
Cons
Good Place to work, but surely some improvments possible
Advice to Senior Management
You should rethink the salaries ...
Pros
5 weeks of personal time off / leave
Cons
BearingPoint employed junior and experiences people but placed them on projects where they billed them as senior level consultants. It made working with these teammates hard since they did not really carry their weight or provide thought leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire experienced and well-deserving consultants for leadership and management roles.
Pros
If you like 5 days on client site go for it. The firm has gone through many changes but there are also opportunities. I only left as I had better opportunities elsewhere and a pay increase (which we struggled to get over the last year).
Cons
Work is more on the transformational side and not as strategic as some of us would have liked. But if you like working for months on client site and get your hands dirty, go for it!
Advice to Senior Management
Training has suffered and I hope management will invest more in this in future....people are your assets!
Pros
The pay was great (at the time) for someone at an analyst level. Free coffee at HQ.
Cons
I was unknowingly put on a project as a contract requirement because I met certain guidelines. Worked exclusively with people from other companies, with no exposure to other BearingPoint colleagues. Bad fit for the position.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a little more care with where you are staffing your employees. Bad form to put someone on an island by themselves.
Pros
Smart, Dynamic people
Opportunties to move up the corporate chain
Excellent benefits
Diversity of work
Relative work life balance depending on the project
Excellent initial training
Cons
Often felt lost in the dust
Never met my manager in person
In person training was hard to attend due to client obligations
Advice to Senior Management
More active and direct engagement with employees to foster mentoring relationships and understand and guide employees to grow their unique strengths
Pros
excelent opportunities for growth and development
Cons
unorganized and higher management not accessible
Advice to Senior Management
listen
Pros
small team, high performers, high social, business, technical skills, very interesting projects, good career opportunities, chance to be responsible for small team
Cons
not very good known brand, opportunites to work abroad are limited, still a very young company due to management buy-out, not all processes in place
Advice to Senior Management
invest in career development of employees, invest in social and business events, give chance for assignment abroad, take more time to have feedback sessions on regular basis
Pros
good hours, not long
challenging work
Cons
management lacks guidance, need 360 review program
Advice to Senior Management
Management should check in with lowly consultants
