Pros
It has some good people
Cons
It had lot of semi retired professional
Advice to Senior Management
Close all other offices
Pros
clear path of advancement, lots of opportunity if you work with the right people and can show your potential, lots of travel (depends on how you look at it)
Cons
terrible upper management, no clear direction as a company, ship has been sinking ever since kpmg separation, hard to succeed if you don't get in the right group, little to no bonuses
Advice to Senior Management
focus on fixing financial situation, reward your employees or they will leave - they are your IP, stop coming up with new 'frameworks' when none of them work
Pros
nice people that were concerned with doing a good job, but watched their own back- it was also difficult to see the end result
Cons
was kind of difficult to know the firm's direction because it was always shifting - the opportuity to make a lot of money went away
Advice to Senior Management
just do it do it do it do it do it - they got too concerned with making it work for each other and not the client
Pros
Camaraderie with coworkers. Good project work. Interesting and exciting clients. Got to travel the world on the companies dime. If your Managing Director was good, this was a very good place to work.
Cons
Many cons. How about atrocious senior management. No consideration for work or life balance (what can you expect, its consulting). In 8 years only received one bonus.
Its now bankrupt, 'nuff said.
Advice to Senior Management
A series of terrible CEO's and bad Senior Management lead this place into the ground. Sad. A lot of good people and good work was done at this company, only to be driven into the ground by incompetent management. This place suffered from one management debacle after another.
Pros
BearingPoint was a good company to work for to gain consulting experience. It also looked very good on a resume.
Cons
As with any large company, it depended on where within the company you worked. At BearingPoint, I worked for a great group, but have very limited room for growth/advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be less artificial roadblocks to advancement within the company. Understood that the company wasn't doing well, so there was little ability to promote.
Pros
Opportunity to work on different engagements and learn different systems, although most engagements in financial services are short-term, often lasting only a few months.
Cons
No work-life balance, most partners have stay-at-home wives so no appreciation and accommodation for career women, lots of travel, lack of career growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees like people, not machines.
Pros
- Is willing to invest in non-standard big4 candidates (invest on experience over education or consulting past).
- Very entrepreneurial, but very well organized in an approach to deliver.
- Provided a solid framework for delivery, taking a lot of guesswork out of approved methodology
- Very respected in the industry
Cons
- Bankrupt, and out of business
- Crippled by the poor financial decisions of past management
- Career growth ended with bankruptcy
- Overly competitive within the firm
- Doesn't encourage collaboration amongst the team
Advice to Senior Management
- You did a great job protecting the firm when it was going down. Thank you for all your effort.
Pros
Good consulting experience especially in FS clients
Cons
bankruptcy proceedings, compensation below industry standards
Advice to Senior Management
more communication, improve change management
Pros
In my practice, there are/were very smart people, above average compensation, good opportunities for training, and the opportunity for advancement.
Cons
Incompetent disingenuous leadership, long hours, horrible knowledge management system.
Advice to Senior Management
Have the class to go away instead of moving to PWC.
Pros
BearingPoint, even in this time of turmoil, has attempted to reward employees for hard work and dedication. Additionally, BearingPoint has is a supporter of lateral movement as well as promotions within your field. This means if one is not interested in the type of work he/she does, it is not difficult to switch to a different area of the company.
Cons
Upper management has let the company down. They were unable to run a profitable business even though BearingPoint employees were delivering on the job they were assigned - specifically, satisfying the client with best in class project work.
Advice to Senior Management
Good luck in your future endeavors.
