I worked at Beaufort Memorial Hospital (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked at Beaufort until having to relocate for mother's illness. Loved the staff I worked with. Awesome people. Employed in ER. Great ER physicians, allowed to function independently as an RN. State retirement. Great cardiovascular outcomes, very good interventional cardiovascular surgeons.

    Cons

Small town environment which I love but may be a hindrance to some if you looking for big city atmosphere. Some people felt management micromanaged.

    Advice to Management

appreciate your staff, they are awesome

I worked at Beaufort Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great hours and the supervisor worked with a single parents schedule. Co-workers were generally easy to get along with and they take great strides to intermingle all dept.

    Cons

Pay scale was horrendous. There is no lateral movement or career advancement in either of the departments i worked in.

    Advice to Management

Grow your internal customers and utilize the talent you have on hand to grow the hospital.

I have been working at Beaufort Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Clinical, ancillary and support staff are great.

    Cons

Communication between senior management and staff is very poor. They are viewed as completely out of touch with the reality of the hospital. The organization preaches a "promote from within" policy but rarely practices it since their leadership team is very tenured (read old) and no one retires. Pay is fine, but other benefits have decreased in recent years- PDO, medical premiums, etc.

    Advice to Management

None that they would actually take to heart.

I worked at Beaufort Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable for a while and attempts have been made to improve processes. Recent expansion of physician practices will provide some stability in the future.

    Cons

Culture is grounded in 20th century. Critical service line inefficiencies. Support services are being trimmed while some service line departments with higher salaries are non-productive.

    Advice to Management

Look closely at efficiencies and disrupt inefficiencies.

Beaufort Memorial Hospital is the employer of choice in Beaufort County

    Pros

Beaufort Memorial is very fair when it comes to compensation and pay increases. Everyone is treated the same. Senior management understands that family comes first and encourages people to take time off in family emergencies. They also encourage staff to further their education and offer tuition reimbursement and scholarships. They also offer a lot of educational experiences at the hospital.

    Cons

One of the biggest downsides to working at Beaufort Memorial is the lack of parking for the staff. The staff will park in visitor parking, therefore taking up a good bit of that parking.

    Advice to Management

There are some staff that go way beyond what their duties are. They should be rewarded. Also, there are some staff who do not work as hard as they could and others have to pitch in. I believe they are too slow to use any corrective action against these employees.
