I worked at Beaulieu (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family company so they are not always worried about the stock price. Listened to ideas from the field

    Cons

quality control issues and back order was a major problem. Would push sales of certain products but the plants didn't even have the yarn

    Advice to Management

The management is different now than it was when I was there. When I was there the management was great and I appreciated all the team members that were in place

I have been working at Beaulieu full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a private, family-owned company. You don't feel like a number and there is a ton of potential to grow your own business.

    Cons

A lot of driving which gets very lonely.

Beaulieu has some things it could do better at but that's with any company we all have room for improvement

I worked at Beaulieu full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I appreciate the family culture of Beaulieu. This is hard to find in today's day and age, and to be appreciated.

    Cons

The industry is very competitive and difficult. It is low margin, cyclical, and fickle. It is not for the weak of heart.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on employees and retain the family spirit. Develop your employees. Find ways to diversify into higher value add products.

I have been working at Beaulieu full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly Fellow Drivers. You work 3 days one week. 4 days the next week.

    Cons

Poorly maintained equipment. Very hard work for the rate of pay. Bad management - They do not care about their drivers at all. They will say when your on the clock the company owns you. Seniority does not mean any thing here. Keep your doors closed and your wheels rolling. They push you very hard and then say but we want you to be safe.

    Advice to Management

Change in Management would be good. They want to be an employer of choice. But they sure don't show it.

I worked at Beaulieu full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work from home, so allowed some independence of scheduling.

    Cons

Very male dominated company. Still very much "old boys club" mentality and "lunches". Not many opportunities for woman. Opportunities were based on who you knew internally, or what dealers you were related to and could benefit the company. Opportunities were not based on tenure, or level of performance.

    Advice to Management

Build a corporation of honesty, integrity and fairness - if you do this, it will build loyalty and dedication among employees.

    Pros

Excellent opportunity for advancement from within if desired, ability to do online training if desired, small reimbursement package for education.

    Cons

No work/life balance in personal opinion, every location is an "island," with very little "ED (HR)" and very little to no Senior Management representation, which creates the inability to anonymously report any deviation of company values.

    Advice to Management

Fear is not a motivator to achieve and sustain the standards set. to be the "Supplier of Choice," you must first be the "Employer of Choice," and will be virtually impossible when the majority of the associates (in a division or "island") loath and doesn't trust the management and have no job security. Look closer at the leaders you have put in place.
