    Pros

Great salary, most of the management are very supportive, and try to foster a team environment. Lots of employee incentive programs that you are encouraged to make use of.

    Cons

Hard to cross train, gain experience in other departments if you excel at your current position. Upper management is aging and it is hard to see that they are willing to support younger Sr. professionals to executive type roles.

    Advice to Management

I really enjoyed working with you all, cross training would be so amazing for those who are willing to do so, and you will foster even greater company cohesion.

Great company to spend a career at, if you don't mind moving around a lot.

    Pros

Very stable company, excellent wages and benefits. Supportive in-company services. Many opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

This company is in the business of building things. Big things. A lot of the time their projects are located in relatively remote (read: non urban) parts of the United States or around the globe. The company places a high premium on project experience, so if you work here for a long period of time there is a high probability that you will be asked to move. If you only want to live in an urban area, or do not want to move at all - this could be a problem.

    Advice to Management

Maintain the firm commitment to ethics and work quality, it is one of our most redeeming attributes. Make a better effort to hire/promote women and minorities - this needs to be written into a board level strategy document. It will benefit the company in the long run.

Good company and good people. Decent benefit package.

    Cons

Success depends, to a large degree, on networking. Culture tends to appreciate aggressive and assertive personalities.

    Pros

Good at securing contracts. Established reputation as a Federal contractor.

    Cons

As an engineer you will be expected to relocate every few years. If you defer reassignment to another location, some less than desirable, you will be tagged and advancement at your current location sharply limited and pay cut. They support folks who are willing to sign up for their program, but if you don't find any landing place at the end of a project, they will cut you loose.

    Advice to Management

Employees are different. Treating them all as identical cogs allows you to achieve billable hours, but often leads to less than optimal outcome.

    Pros

typically good pay, 5 weeks time off, often flexible schedules

    Cons

company worked with states of VA and MD to receive money in return for having specific number of employees in each state - disgusting that a company of their size would make these agreements (and shame on the states too). Move Frederick office to Reston without raising pay (the Reston area typically pays 20-25% more than Frederick).

    Pros

I really don't have anything good to say about Bechtel anymore!

    Cons

I am at a lost for words with Bechtel! I've been with Bechtel on and off since 2006. My best year with them was then. Elm road generating station in Oak Creek Wi.My second best was with Becon in bedford,Ky after that jib was lively Grove project. I decided to go south with the company and thats when i seen another side of the company! Horrible management,Horrible wages and a buddy system program that's out of this world!

    Advice to Management

Based off what i've seen you guys have no compassion for your employees any more it's all about your bonuses and perks. You also lack the knowledge of placing the right people in supervision. What i mean by that is you guys do not take the time to figure out nor research your employee roster to figure out who's actually seasoned with-in the crafts you just pick people who you like or your general foremans like or your family members ect. Within the crafts lye true journeymans and you guys just over look them. You guys are bringing in these young kids that have little to no experience at all! Last but not least "Pay Your People What their worth" I've researched the area and you guys are the lowest paying contractor in that area! I remmeber a time when i would hear people saying nothing but bad things about Bechtel Corp. and I'd be like no way! Well at this point in time I have too say those people made a believer out of me! Sorry for so much negativity but it's what you have allowed your company to become!
