I worked at Beck Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

the office space is great...very open. Everyone has the same type of cube including the CEO and CFO. The compensation is very reasonable and the HR department really tries to foster employee communication and good morale.

    Cons

The company is involved in large scale architectural and construction projects. Sometimes it felt like the systems (accounting) were inadequate to handle the scope.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The office culture is friendly. I think more could be done to encourage career growth and development.

I worked at Beck Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Company culture is fantastic, everyone is very friendly, mild-mannered, and professional. Most of the time egos and grand standing are non-existent which breeds a very educational and opportunistic environment. HR does a fantastic job with hiring candidates that have the right mix of skill set and personality.

    Cons

This is an architectural and construction company. Their niche and business model is built around architectural design-build projects, however, they have a sole-source contract with a major telecommunications provider that is practically their bread and butter. If you are placed on this contract and like this type of heavy telecommunications work (i.e. mechanical and electrical), you'll fit right in. If you have more of an interest in architecture (and work under this contract) this could quite literally be your worst nightmare.

Work can be boring for someone motivated and willing to accept challenges.

I worked at Beck Group as an intern

    Pros

Beck is an extremely innovative company focused on design-build and integrated work. They place an emphasis on training and personal development. Beck hires many of the sharpest, most motivated individuals in the construction industry.

    Cons

Compensation is average, and as with any employer, there are some employees who are "dead weight".

Architecture group is disorganized. They're all about covering themselves.

I worked at Beck Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great work environment and perks.

    Cons

Architecture and construction seem to butt heads, blame for disconnect falls downhill (on me). Very political; "good ol' boy" system works well here if you want to get ahead. Also, don't believe everything they tell you when they promise you a bonus to lure you in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look around at the management group (architecture) and see who's slacking off - and get rid of them.

    Pros

Beck requires 40 hours of personal training every year
Beck understands project integration from concept to completion. They have the architects, designers, BIM conceptualization, green building, and project management to fulfill all the owners needs.

    Cons

    I have none to share.

    Pros

They try very hard to be progressive and I think they have succeeded.

    Cons

They seem a little slow to implement change.

I worked at Beck Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Was consistently ranked one of the best places to work. Management was personable, approachable, and had a strong vision for the future. Good benefits and competitive salary.

    Cons

Some good old boy system for promotion and bonus exists. Some local offices were not managed as well and the corporate office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to local office management, place managers in local offices based on competency, and not tenure with the company

I have been working at Beck Group

    Pros

Most of the people are great. Great perks and benefits and a beautiful office to work in with great location. Some large profile projects.

    Cons

Too top heavy and confusion in management which means people lower down are doing all the work and are not compensated for it. Real disconnect between upper management and everyone else. Seems like they hire for specific jobs and not necessarily for long term growth.
