Pros
The Dannaher acquisition may provide the opportunity for some good people to rise to the top.
Cons
Everything seems to be in a "Hurry up and Fix It" mode right now. No new innovation from R&D. Field morale at a all-time low.
Pros
Work-Life balance a plus...probably the only plus.
Cons
They have a "more bang for the money" attitude no matter how far they push.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees. They are at the front line and can give suggestions on streamlining business.
Pros
Historically good reputation as employer.
Large enough to create some opportunities.
Global operations.
Great products in a good industry.
Cons
Recent acquisition has resulted in many poor decisions.
Poor leadership.
Pay can be in lower end of ranges.
Historically unable to make decisions.
Advice to Senior Management
Need more visionaries and less "yes" people going where the wind blows.
Pros
Good people to work with, benefits are good, and lot of works to keep one busy
Cons
bad management, lack of accountability, upper managers can get away with the murders. HR knows but keep eyes shut and sometimes encourage the bully behavior. It acts like a small mama papa stores. Dont disagree with certain people, otherwise, the whole gangs will make your life miserable to sleepless nights.
Advice to Senior Management
Bad managers should be fired. Its so hypocritical for the president to have the open door policy. if they find you have complaints, then your life is ended right up there.
Pros
Location. Nice facility. Generally, good local people.
Cons
Lack of realistic goals for the Cellular Analysis division. Traditional layoffs to make numbers resulting in successive failures to reach performance goals.
Advice to Senior Management
Find knowledgeable leaders in the Cellular Analysis field. The Cellular Analysis business comprises about 1/3 of the revenue, but receives little knowledgeable management support.
Pros
Working with best technology stack, good benefits (prior to Danaher acquisition)
Cons
Little to no accountability for manager, layoffs happening in bulk since Danaher acquisition
Advice to Senior Management
Do the talent management portion of your job. You are getting paid for that part, too.
Pros
Have to make a living.
Cons
No recognition for hard work. Too much buddy buddy system. No future.
Advice to Senior Management
Support your talented people and treat them fairly, and they will make you sucessful otherwise. It works both ways.
Pros
Decent benefits, enough resources to do your work, nice facilities and lab space, stable work environment, I could always get PTO when needed.
Cons
Started off at smaller company that was bought by Beckman Coulter. After that, bureaucracy, office politics and favoritism increased steadily. No recognistion of contributions and no opportunities for advancement. A culture of blame developed, blame being passed from the top down to the bottom. Employees were motivated by fear and not by incentives or recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
If there is an issue, listen to all sides. Hold managers accountable for their failures, and don't let them just blame their reports. Better communication and more honesty.
Pros
Most people are nice, but some are not really. Overall, its OK to work at, could be worse, but could be better also.
Cons
Too much stress, too much time spent at work vs. home. Very few people get promoted unless you know someone.
Advice to Senior Management
Give me recognition and reward to the small people. Improve the benefits, otherwise more and more people will leave. Yes,
Pros
Pay is good for the area.
Cons
Everyone is covering their A**. They would not think twice about throwing you under the bus. They manage on perception rather than reality. Lets hurry up so we can put a show on for the "uppers". Everything is priority number one. Disorganized.
Advice to Senior Management
Let find the details to a request, rather than spend all this time guessing just so that it can be changed once we are trained. (ie. bowler PS forms)
