Pros
Possibly an exciting time to be employed @ Beckman Coulter.
The Danaher acquisition is now complete;
the site leadership meeting [a MANDATORY required passsive audience]
identified key lucrative paying positions by name.
This was excellent for the mood elevator. High hopes for Danaher to increase
wages across all job classifications.
Cons
Stagnant / Passive leadership plant wide meetings.
Leadership meetings NEVER include local positives,
proposed improvements, or employee initiative to improve,
or articulate an ever changing technological environment.
PowerPoint presentation was read aloud: Ee's followed along
and within the hour; strategic management officials were identified
and no new local lean initiatives were revealed nor implemented.
False positives jungled into plant paperwork, giving Hebron plant
appearance "Song Remains the Same"
Advice to Senior Management
Eeeasy with the buddy system.
"PERFECT the PRODUCT" the results will follow.
No more paper shuffling. Truth sets you free.
1 - 5 people will cause Ee's Heartache.

Don't wait too late........
Pros
The company does offer opportunities for advancement.
Cons
Management shows favortism. There's not a definded method for promotion. It's about who you know.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider an employee's work performance for promotions as well as how the person interacts with customers and coworkers.
Pros
The people. Progressive management. New business model to simplify, be accountable and competitive. Customer focused. The company provides a collaborative work environment. Opportunities for global business exposure.
Cons
Large company, means it's sometimes slow to move and a bit too conservative and resistant to taking risks. All of the above is changing, so the pros will continue to outweigh the cons.
Pros
great work-life balance. Depends on the manager, the pressure is not very high. Everything moves forward at a very comfortable pace.
Cons
Do not take rumor lightly. Most of the time rumor is reality.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the voice of customers and field when developing new products. Make products / purchase products that meet customer needs
Pros
good exposure to talented coworkers
ability to work concurrent projects
interesting work on products that do help people
Cons
salary below market levels and not consistent from department to department for the same job
very little consideration for the individual contributor
too much emphasis on "playing the game" and no appreciation for objective input if negative
Advice to Senior Management
value your people who have produced contributions over a long period of time
stick to core behavior and stop trying to implement the latest MBA trend because it is felt that "change is good"
Pros
Great Benefits, and ability to learn.
Cons
Workers are underpaid. There's a lot involved with the jobs and I feel the employees aren't compensated for their work.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall they do a fine job.
Pros
Good training and wide exposure provided across all medical equipment.
Excellent Benefits, leave,medical, life Insurance.
Gold Card for Travelling.
Effective call logging system makes engineers lives easier.
Cons
Bullying of staff with threats of dismissal to sign onerous employment contracts.
Contractual obligations mean more than employee satisfaction.
Big brother mentality of supervisors and management, Inexperienced managers.
Little opportunity for advancement for those outside priviledged circle.
Advice to Senior Management
Contractual obligations mean more than employee satisfaction.
Big brother mentality of supervisors and management. People skills training for managers.
Little opportunity for advancement for those outside priviledged circle.
Pros
Good benefits with somewhat secure job
Cons
Promotion opportunities, lack of technical knowledge at management.
Pros
- 3 weeks vacation for salary employees in year 1
- Willing to get in-experienced people up to speed
- Good place to start out of college, get experience then move to a higher paying company (Medtronic, Boston Scientific etc...)
Cons
- Pay is at least 20% below market for most positions
- High Turnover
- Beckman is a farm for the bigger, more reputable companies such as those mentioned above.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to why people are leaving so rapidly. I would assume it is pay related based on conversations with co-workers. If you want to retain the talent that you trained, you need to pay for it.
Pros
Brea campus all new facilities.
Cons
There are issues within the company and management is not very open about sharing it's strategy with the employees.
