    Pros

Good environment to work, the benefits are good

    Cons

This company is all about internal development and growth, however, whenever a position is available they go external instead of internal.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

A lot of good hardworking intelligent employees.
The western suburb location is good with adequate facilities and free parking. The large Danaher family of companies should provide lots of opportunities.

    Cons

This Danaher company is extremely high pressure.
Management is disrespectful of employees on a daily basis. Employees are disposable and not valued. The top priority is the bottom line.
Integrity is consistently compromised as over pressured management personnel is disrespectful of employees on a daily basis. Employee benefits are expensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Micromanagement and daily management practices drive wrong employee behavior and incorrect priorities.

    Pros

The job market is looking up, so there is hope of getting out of the Danaher DBS nightmare

    Cons

Biggest con...valuable employees are leaving in droves. Health benefits are expensive, and the worst on the market, Walmart offers more and better benefits. Long hours, and nothing is ever good enough. Believe the negative reviews. Upper management has told managers to go on line and put in positive reviews. Those reviews are forced and are a stretch from what is actually happening. Danaher wants shareholders. They do not care about the patients that the Beckman product is supposed to help, Danaher does not care for its customers or the employees that work hard, Danaher does not care about any aspect of Beckman Coulter except the money it can suck out of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Danaher...please sell Beckman.. You are destroying a once proud and caring company. The employees want to go back to the Beckman that "makes a difference in people's lives". We no longer want to be a part of Danahers "best team wins.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Collaborative culture, friendly employees, progressive pockets

    Cons

Since acquistion by Danaher companies a dark cloud has hung over this once vibrant, albeit imperfect work place. Some real advances from the 'danaher business system' are offset by the continual quest to bleed the site out of every possible dollar. This and the steady trickle of staffing reductions has taken a big toll on morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Admit you're still trying to shower off from the duplicitous 'DBS friendship tour' immediately following acquistion. The truth will set you free.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Beckman Coulter at least at the Chaska, Minnesota site is an excellent place to start or continue a career. The company is very focused on staff development, demonstrating the knowledge that well motivated staff is mission critical.

    Cons

There has been times of unfortunate "inbreeding" by longer term middle management at various sites, that was not properly identified and addressed by upper management. This did damaged product development and subsequent profitability. This type of situation can happen anywhere. The recent acquisition by Danaher is a very positive development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to monitor actual versus reported activities looking for reporting with too much polish. The overall company is well worth the extra effort.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Except for few honest real good technical people and neat product, nothing is great there
They even ship instruments with so many defects and question their quality management for hurrying things , Support individuals for mocking other employee, No employee work ethics...dont know what else..Just hire people who can work, work and hire contractors as full time employee who dont have right employee behavior..

    Cons

Bad attitude, zero collaboration, no engagement, high stressful work and also work for which you havent been hired for..dirty jobs, severe major politics where HR plays pivotal role to save their "Loud mouth attitude" people, unrecognized talent...Senior management talks big stuff "Integration, compliance, " but nothing in action, No vision.....Please dont join...Horrible company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest your politics and tactics at some other joint. Dont play with talented and skilled employees and sell your sales pitch to some of your unique product..

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Executive leadership committed to growth through innovation of new products. In our Chaska site, we are ramping up and bringing on scientists, engineers and other new members of our team to support the development of our next generation products. People are really excited about this and it's created a great energy at our site. There is an increased emphasis on personal accountability and through DBS, tools and resources to support people in creative, focused problem solving. There is just a lot of interesting and challenging work.

There are some great people here! Very bright people who want to challenge status quo, collaborate on ways to get better every day. Days fly by - never watching the clock. Always something interesting and challenging for me to do.

There is a true and genuine commitment to wellness; we have employer organized 5Ks, running and biking clubs as well as people who workout together before work, during lunch and after work.

    Cons

I currently work here and gave this a 5-star rating based more on potential than current environment. Current environment is probably closer to a 4-star in some areas (people, work/life balance, commitment to wellness, potential for career growth) and even a 3 star perhaps in some areas. While not a majority, there are still too many people resistant to change - people fostering a cynical outlook who don't see challenge as opportunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to champion efforts in innovation and new product development. People in Chaska are stoked about getting to work on these projects, it's really excited the teams here. Continue conducting the Town Halls and informal chat sessions with associates at all levels in the organization. They appreciate your candor and are excited to hear from you.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Decent benefits
    Pay is really competative
Company has the best of intentions for their product

    Cons

The management treat employees poorly . There is no growth opportunities here but they like to pretend opportunities exist. They have made position levels that are meaningless and they think they have fooled employees. They do not promote. The people that should be let go aren't and don't face any accountability, very political environment (who you know not what you know). Company hires unqualified people, also hire a ton of contracts without intentions of hiring them fulltime. There is no challenge to working here, all they want is for you to follow SOPS and get the work done. They want robots and not thinkers. Instead of thinking about situations they react to situations, so processes get implimented without weighing out pros and cons. Change just for the sake of change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think through decisions before implimenting them and hire better canidates. Realize that expecting more work from employees is not the same as challenging employees.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Beckman people are great to work with. Even though we work in a toxic environment, (since Danaher acquisition), associates work hard to keep positive. you need to learn quickly, not to question decisions or assigned tasks.

    Cons

They make a lot of promises when you are hired. They paint a wonderful picture of the company. But it is all about the money and more $$$ for the company shareholders...no concern for employees. BAD insurance. Pay raises this year did not even cover the cost increase on insurance employees pay. My raise this year was over 3 percent (averages was 2). My pay check is less then what I made last year. shortly after raises were announced, Danaher sent out email telling about all the money the made this year. Not cool.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SEE an HEAR you employees. Stop sending our jobs to India! Wake up. change the slogan back to "We make a difference ". And get rid of "putting shareholders first" and " the best team wins."
