Pros
This is a place where you can challenge yourself, where the job is rewarding and beneficial to the public.
Cons
Management frequently seemed to be at a loss for how to best accomplish their goals. Lots of going in circles as reorganization seemed to supersede actual planning.
Advice to Senior Management
Pick a path, communicate it and work it. Don't keep changing hoping things will improve. Carefully evaluate your people so you keep the good ones and let the dead wood go.
Pros
Great for entry level personnel
Cons
Little room for growth
negative corporate culture
Advice to Senior Management
micromanagement uninvests employees
Pros
The people you work with becomes a part of your life.
Cons
Company lacks a program that reviews potential talents of employees to reassign them to different roles. Recognizing and leveraging the right talents and giving people a chance to do something different will most likely be more productive.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognition and fairness are important things to watch out for in management.
Pros
Great projects, great teams.
Benefits are very good and work is very satisfying. Life science is a great area to do product development.
Cons
Changes are overwhelming right now. Things will get better but leadership shakeup and new directions leaves everyone scrambling. Ask again later!
Advice to Senior Management
Share information! Too much is being hidden and that raises uncertainty. Trying to move too fast leaves everyone exhausted! Set attainable goals or morale won't ever get better.
Pros
Great work atmosphere. R&D is where I love to work and I look forward to it every day. I am surrounded by hard working, smart and talented people who love what they do and are eager to share their knowledge with me. It is relaxed, but professional. The "work hard, play hard" philosphy is our way of life.
Cons
Need more incentives for good employees. There is a disconnect between upper management and the lower layers.
Pros
People doing the work below department mangers and VPs are the best and will help each other
Cons
Managment saying one thing and acting another.
Do not realy know where or how to lead the company.
Danaher value of employees is only based on $$
too many consultants that conflict with each other
Pros
The people at the site were pleasant to work with
Cons
Acquisition by Danaher has changed corporate value
Pros
good culture, nice people, easy to communicate. interesting thing to learn. the project was about clinical assay improvement. people i worked with were very smart.
Cons
far from downtown, it is in calsbad, had to drive for about 30 min to get there from la jolla. other than that, the environment inside the building was a little old fasioned, but it's fine to work there.
Advice to Senior Management
open more opportunites to the students. come to campus more often. not lot of people know this company although it is very famous and well-known in the industry. need to come often to school.
Pros
They provide excellent training and they make sure you are set up to succeed. The work you are doing to help patients is very rewarding.
Cons
Poor management and lack of a smooth transition with the buyout. There seems to have been some issues with communication from the top down.
Pros
What they lacked in pay they made up for by being flexible in work schedules and environment. Some freedom to self develop was also a nice bonus.
Cons
Senior level management never really seemed to understand what the business was about, more concerned about making money for shareholders. Local management had no clue on how to do their job, only received their jobs through cronyism. Lack of decent pay compared with other similar companies is huge downfall.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow the new owners, Danaher, to run the company their way. There will be an improvement, though it will take time.
