I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, Nice buildings, an open door when you have nowhere to run, gives you an idea of how important it is to study something so you are not completely under valuated,

    Cons

Nonexistent promotions, low motivations level everywhere, lack of recognition at all, fault falls to the ground or the lower level workers are the ones to blame, employees have no voice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that a business is made bottom-up. Do not see those down there as they do not count at all in a business world where every single person should aim to make his company better every day.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter

    Pros

-New graduates, getting your experience to add to your resume
-Good people in general to work with

    Cons

-Keep adding work, responsibilities, but do not hire additional help
-The craziness of being accountable, daily report and all the "danaher crap". To write down your action steps is a good idea, plan out 6 months of work is ok, but there is no "help" when you encounter problems. They make you feel worthless or not doing your job when you're late
-Management in general is always about "let's keep pushing" and keep pushing until you can't take it anymore
-Management are afraid of "signing" off or approving stuff nowadays because they're so afraid of being responsible for stuff in the future
-They do not value your contribution as their pay and bonuses suck. It's one thing to make you work hard and you can try, but it's another thing to give you a 5% raise and 3-4% bonus year after year
-Can't have work life balance at all

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Need to realistically look at what you're doing and radically change your system and ways before all the good people leave
-IF you're going to make your employees work that hard and not hire more, the least you could do is actually PAY MORE!!!! Money doesn't mean
-Engagement surveys in the past have given you indications that you have a problem, stop trying to clarify the words and the way the questions are to get better results. Either that, or stop trying to pretend that employees' opinions count by repeatedly giving the survey, either way it's irritating

I worked at Beckman Coulter (more than a year)

    Pros

People were dedicated and bright, but not allowed to flourish.

    Cons

Management made big changes too frequently. Just as the company was starting to regain speed, they would re-org again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Commit to a plan and see it through. Need longer horizon.

    I worked at Beckman Coulter

    Pros

This company offers good pay/benefits. The management at the time seem to really care about their employees and quality of life. My direct manager did all he could to recognize all my efforts.

    Cons

This company was bought by Danaher and things have seem to have gone downhill. No commitment to work/life quality. Seems all interests and concerns seem to be all about the bottom line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To keep good customer service and employee retention pay close attention to the happiness of your employees. Need to keep employees work-life balance in consideration.
