    Pros

Benefits, great pay. My staff is great.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations. Hiring within is tougher than hiring from outside. Discouraging to hourly associates looking for a career. Just like the lotto, I think if I keep playing, one day it may pay off. NOT!

    Advice to Management

DM's and higher should have staff engaging visits. Maybe they'll see a pay off.

I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Extremely flexible scheduling. Perfect for students.

    Cons

If you work at the customer service desk you are expected to do EVERYTHING which includes training new hires, answering phones, ringing up, returns, selling the "add-on" in addition to CLEANING the bathrooms and sweeping the entire store if you are scheduled to come in at 7am. For all that is expected of you, your pay does not and will not reflect that. Raises are given annually and are literally pennies. There are no incentives, no rewards for the hard work you do, only "good job" and "way to go". Also, the only fulltime positions are given to managers. It's just not somewhere you want to stay. Work there for about a year if you need to and move on.

    Advice to Management

INCENTIVES! Customer service is literally the brain of the store. There should be incentives for those who excell at selling add-on or for those who who just excel at proving excellent customer service, which is what the store is based on.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Works around your schedule, employee incentives, they do promote from within, they make a great atmosphere to meet new people, and also allow a little bit of overtime.

    Cons

Horrible upper management, horrible direct bosses, horrible training for employees, they throw employees under the bus in front of the customer, less than average pay, horrible computer systems from the 80's.

    Advice to Management

Start listenting to the employees and their wishes, stop allowing customers walk all over employees, stop allowing customers to take advantage of your return policy, give higher pay so there will be less turn over.
