I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, quick response from management regarding days off or shift switches

    Cons

No benefits for part-time workers. Depending on the circumstances, will call you to come in same day to replace someone who either did not show or called out.

    Pros

The starting pay for a full time department manager is great. And they send you away for a week for training,

    Cons

The things you are taught in you training are things you can never apply to the real world. The fact is you are so busy with helping customers, projects, ringing register(they do not hire cashiers!!!), a lack of payroll its impossible to meet the unrealistic expectations of upper management,

    Pros

Pay was generally more competitive than you would get at another retail store. I was also given a lot of responsibility and didn't have management constantly guiding me on what to do next.

    Cons

certain seasons the store gets very busy and sometimes we would be under staffed. In these instances I would be getting pulled in many different directions by the multiple managers that were on duty at the same time. This led to a lot of confusion and stress, often favorites would have to be played.

    Advice to Management

Give employees a clear understanding of who they are working under and create a better system for how this multiple manager role will work to create less confusion.

    Pros

. Lots of overtime available. Always something new at the workplace and good benefits.

    Cons

Lots of favoritism. Training needs to be done more efficiently. Abundant amount of work for the amount of pay you get is ridiculous

    Advice to Management

Adjust the training method. There are some things that cant be taught and you will need to learn when you get on the floor however there needs to be more adequate training.

    Pros

Everyone I worked for was amazing, was always busy, and I highly enjoyed my worked. When I began having issues with seizures, they backed me up by giving me time off, and working around my doctor schedule without ever giving me any problems.

    Cons

The only problem is that people love working there so much that people don't retire, so whatever you come in as, your usually stuck in that position for a very long time, and may never receive a promotion. I know people who were there for 20 + years who never got a promotion. That's really the only reason I left. Otherwise, I loved working with them.

    Advice to Management

I really have nothing bad to say towards the management, accept provide more promotion opportunities to your hard working employees.

    Pros

Decent Co workers. There's always something to do. 20% discount. Lots of attractive customers.

    Cons

We take anything back which is hell for floor associates doing reshop. Never enough hours for part timers.

    Advice to Management

Don't take back yogurt makers with cream still in them and ditto for blenders etc. It's absolutely gross.
