    Pros

The company is going through a total transformation, and working there can be almost euphoric. Hard fought wins give a sense of achievement. The people ,by-in-large, are fantastic. The benefits are really great. Very competitive vacation policies and understanding bosses. They really look out for you. If you like working hard with a great team, this place is for you.

    Cons

You'll work weekends often. You'll have a lot on your plate, and to get everything done, you'll need to stay after hours often. Performance management, and professional development is poor.

    Advice to Management

Provide a better roadmap for achievement and ways up the ladder. Its easy to feel like you'll be in the same position for many years.

    Pros

wages avg about 17/hr after probationary period.....

    Cons

lay offs started after I was there 4 weeks. Average layoff: 4/5 days of the week! And it's been going on for 12 weeks now. At least I will be eligible for unemployment soons(have to work 20 weeks or 2 pay periods to qualify in NYS).

    Advice to Management

Really> don't hire new workers if you don't have the time/money to pay and not lay off those already hired.

    Pros

This is small company with a great culture, the benefits offered are fantastic and the vacation policy is the best I've ever seen. Very flexible with telecommuting and they understand what it's like to have small children.

    Cons

Executive level leadership does not seem to understand what each department goes through in order to make the changes demanded in the timeframe allotted for large projects. Things could be done much easier if there was a little flexibility.

    Pros

    Good pay.
Teaches you how to stand up for yourself.

    Cons

This company is a joke. There is absolutely no structure at all. Absolutely no training program. They take somebody new and make them trainer of somebody else new with no guidance sheet or anything. If you screw up then you should have known better.
They don't care about their employees in the least bit. There is no advancement opportunities here. They always treat you like an idiot and they are way superior to you.
You are either over worked working 6 days a week for a couple of months straight or underworked and laid off for weeks at a time.

    Advice to Management

Fire all your supervisors and upper management and hire people who A) know what they are doing and B) actually care about more than themselves

    Pros

There are no pros. They do not care about their employees. I would not recommend this employer to anyone.

    Cons

They lie to you about the job. Say it's full time when it's not.

    Advice to Management

Go back to how you used to run the company prior to moving to Amsterdam. Start off by telling the truth that. 2nd shift isn't guaranteed a minimum of 40.

    Pros

the job itself is not that hard, the people that work there are hardworking and friendly people, pay is good (if your working),

    Cons

the management could not care less about the workers, the company lays people off then makes them work 1 or 2 days a month and then steals money from that 1 or 2 day check, for medical coverage that employees have not had in over a year, the union cares more about beechnut than they due about the people they are supposed to be protecting, the company receives grants from NY state and then lays off most of its employees,I could go on and on and on.dont try and get NYS to help get the stolen money back cause they will not help, you will see me on news center 6 soon

    Advice to Management

start careing a bit more for the real people on the floor that are making you those large bonuses,
STOP STEALING money from the workers that are making you money

    Pros

This is a small food company with European ownership; part of a portfolio of international food businesses. The ownership structure offers growth potential and relocation possibilities. The organization is small enough for individual contributions to be acknowledged for future advancement.

    Cons

The environment is often high stress and high demand. The small size often causes employees to wear many hats for prolonged periods in order to meet the aggressively ambitious ownership demands. Extremely difficult to strike a desirable work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Solid growth takes time. Allow business strategies to establish your brand identity. Develop products, pricing and placement to obtain a long term brand goal to support your brand identity rather than haphazardly jumping to various promotions to temporarily boost sales.

  9. Experience good, advancement potential not so good.

    Pros

Great people (for the most part), nice new facility. A mix of long time staff & newbies. Great career experience if variety of products is important to your job.

    Cons

Direction is all over the place, changing management very, very frequently in recent years. Those who do their job well are rewarded with more work than those who are sub-par (unfortunate). Not many perks at all. Not much of a culture (anymore).

    Advice to Management

You have some very competent and caring employees & many who don't quite fit that description; it seems that the prior are being overworked to compensate the latter, and these folks are being burnt out. You need to do better at retaining your talent (as BN has been known for in the past), and identifying those who are impeding progress.

  10. A lot of investment in machinery, not much investment in people or processes.

    Pros

For those employees who are still around, a very loyal and knowledgeable work force who works hard but can still enjoy a laugh.

    Cons

The new management continues to turn over the workforce and believes the people are the problem with their profitability, instead of their internal processes and external forces.

    Advice to Management

Look at yourself before blaming your reports.
