I worked at Beechcraft full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Immediate management was very good for the most part. Benefits were good to average. Typical 401k, medical and dental. They provided training fairly consistently.

    Cons

Raises were tepid at best. Senior Leadership did not hold anyone accountable, specifically Engineering. They made poor business decisions. Performance Management System was not worth the time and effort.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in better raises and compensation to keep the experienced workforce. Demand accountability.

I have been working at Beechcraft full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast moving pace, opportunity to learn a lot about various aspects of the company, production line and the aviation line.

    Cons

Very thankless job. Work long hours, lots of stress with little chance of advancement, pay raise or bonus. Expected to strive for change (Lean, 5S, 6S, Kaizen), but not allowed to fully implement the ideals. Learn a lot, but at a high cost.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to communicate, listen to underlings, and follow through on promises.

    Pros

Many areas have great team environment, some areas you can define your job role depends on the leadership.

    Cons

Communication, and false representation of production schedules

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't micro manage your people, let them take ownership of their work area. Use your chain of command to communicate across business units. Help, direct, mentor when needed, otherwise do your own job.

I worked at Beechcraft full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits weren't too bad. Pay was okay for the industry. Time off was about par with the industry, but the 5 days of sick leave were problematic during flu season.

    Cons

A once great aircraft company was ruined by its acquisition by first Raytheon and then by Goldman. Senior leadership created a dynasty of VPs and SVPs. At one point there were approximately 4000 employees and 40 C-Level management. The products were dated and no improvements had been made in years. The folly into creating a prop-driven attack aircraft created both a drain on capital and more overhead than the company could absorb.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Now that the company has been acquired by Textron, the new owners needs to clean out all management and stop the madness of developing an aircraft that nobody wants.

I worked at Beechcraft full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of history, pride of ownership, HR and management that seemed to care about doing well and taking care of the customers and employees.

    Cons

There was a disjointed management team, lots of focus on compartmentalized improvement projects that did not create overall profitability. Difficult environment to create change quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use financial decision making at all levels, without losing the heart and history of the place.
