Pros
The culture is often a reason why people stay. The organizational structure is very flat for a growing company with great people in great location. The culture is highly relational with approachable management and open communication.
Cons
Training for new hires is one of Beeline's greatest challenges due to it's fast growth. If you are not an assertive person when trying to learn from others and internalize the processes, the first several months may be very difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
As the company goes through its growing pains, it will be important to pay attention to small details; and continue to foster a culture where feedback is welcomed.
Pros
Environment is great, professional but relaxed. Management is usually very flexible with schedules and time off.
Cons
I thought that career progression was unlimited during my first few years but am finding it very difficult to develop and progress on a desired career path. Have been told on multiple interviews that you need experience to do a specific job and then get told later the way to get experience is to do the job.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of some of the dead weight at the senior manager or VP level! Some people have been here forever but their contributions and commitment are questionable.
Allow employees growth opportunities. For example, if someone wants to be a PM, allow them to complete training and test for a certification. Once they have shown progress, let them get some experience. I am not talking about 'take your kid to work day' where you let them think they are doing something but actually let them run a minor project.
Make sure employees feel utilized and valued. I am looking for opportunities outside the company because I have been unable to secure an internal position with greater responsibilities that utilizes my degrees in the last 14 months. I do not feel valued in my current position and the work is not exciting or challenging for me.
Pros
I was given decent equipment. The training for corporate goals was innovative. The President communicated well.
They did have very good coffee in the break room. Most of the employees in the Troy location were friendly.
Cons
First, they hired the wrong person for the job. I am a senior database developer with no experience with C#. I was there around 2 months and was only give one small assignment that I was qualified to accomplish. Mostly they had me upgrading a terrible old C# windows application. I stressed several times that I was uncomfortable with the project, but they did nothing.
They did have a decent C# developer on the team that was working on SQL work, and was struggling with it.
On my start date they did not have a desk for me. They ended up moving me a few times before I was moved to a desk in a hallway with two people from accounting.
Several time I attempted to complete work on a project, only to find that the same work had been created on 2 tickets for separate departments.
Also, my supervisor was very strange. He had an odd management style that was not conductive to a professional environment.
Parking was a nightmare, if you left for lunch you would have to park next door or across the street.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to focus on Troy. There are way too many people crammed into a tiny office. Every one is over worked, and there is no clear definition of departments and rolls. If you are going to have these satellite offices you should pay attention to them.
Pros
Beeline gives its employees an all around great experience. You are able to contribute to nearly any department or project that you can get your hands on while working with intelligent hardworking individuals. Everybody works hard together.
Cons
The environment at Beeline is always moving. Getting a full grasp on what processes are in place and how everything fits together can be hard to grasp, but this is also what makes it an interesting always evolving job.
Advice to Senior Management
I hope that the management team continues to always be involved in not only the business side of Beeline, but in the daily life of Beeline. Having management involved in non-business functions, such as the win4youth program, reminds us that we are all employees at Beeline. It makes it that much easier to work on a one to one level to continue to work at one goal. This is a huge "perk" and I hope it always remains in this culture.
Pros
Management is truly approachable...it's not just lip service. I also appreciate the emphasis on work/life balance. All of my coworkers work incredibly hard and give it their all on their projects but I don't sense anybody feels pressure to work long hours on a regular basis. Doug does a phenomenal job of staying connected with the employees and regularly asks for honest feedback. More importantly, he doesn't dismiss any comments or questions - he addresses them head on. Beeline is in an exciting company and I'm excited to be a member.
Cons
Fast growth has contributed to some basic things being overlooked such as developing and delivering training for new hires and formal documentation procedures that are adhered to. When I was a new employee I felt like I was floundering trying to figure out where to find information. That being said, I'd much rather work for a company having these growing pains due to how quickly they are growing versus working for a company that has all their ducks in a row but aren't growing.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to encourage open dialogue. Your perceived desire to hear and address employee issues or ideas for improvement goes a long way in keeping employees motivated and engaged.
Pros
Very little hierarchy behavior . . . if you need information, you can go to anyone for answers . . . not 'level' conscious. Benefits are good . . . hours are flexible, dress is casual, workspace is pleasant, generally it has a 'family' atmosphere. Company is growing; this is good. Interested in process improvement . . . working to banish 'we've always done it that way' understanding as new people come in, they bring new ideas.
Cons
Would like to have more holidays. . . we just have the basic ones . . . Christmas Eve would be nice!! New employee orientation is the worst I've experienced. You are left to find out lots of things (how to use the phone, which 'help' desk number to use, for example) on your own. Quick growth is great; however, communication is not always clear or current. Recruiting/interviewing follow-up is non-existent; candidates are left 'hanging' for weeks with no word.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to small details; keep commitments that you make to employees; continue to create an atmosphere where feedback if welcome and growth is available.
Pros
Joint Venture between Vimpelcom and local MOP
Cons
The workforce is not ot pro enough
Advice to Senior Management
Do the work with pro attitude
Pros
Culturally, Beeline is one of the best companies out there. More importantly Beeline has stayed true to it's culture while experiencing continuous growth and also a change in parent company ownership.
Cons
Tremedous growth requires additional focus on career path and employee develpment though continues improvements are being made.
Advice to Senior Management
Hang on for the ride. It's going to be a great year.
Pros
I thought hard about this - I could say Beeline offers the ability to move into various roles (true), compensation is very good (true), diversity of positions (true), Beeline is always moving forward and is never holding still (true)...on and on. BUT, I think the single most important aspect about the company is that a new employee - fresh out of school, in their first real career role - can pick up the phone and dial up any of the upper management with an idea/concern. They will be listened to and get a real response back. It doesn't seem like much, but it really makes the difference between a good successful company, and a Long Term, Great, Top 10 Company.
Cons
If you don't work in Jacksonville Head Office, it still sometimes feels like you are on a bit of an island. BUT, they have been working hard to rectify this. Beeline isn't the only company in this day of remote business that have some struggles around this issue.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to keep an open door/transparent policy with your employees/colleagues. It really makes us feel like we are part of the larger plan.
Pros
Management goes above and beyond to make sure they over-communicate. They are always mindful of the de-centralized business model, and do everything they can to make sure everyone feels like a part of the bigger group. Compensation is very fair, as are the benefits. The prices went up very little with no change in the benefits provided. The amount of PTO has to be one of the best in the country.
Cons
I don't have anything very negative to relate at all. One small thing would be more availability of outside training, for example...project management, Six Sigma, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work!
