    Pros

    Very flat organization, you can talk to anyone, learn and interact at all levels. Very family friendly and understanding of parents.

    Cons

    Direction beyond the current revenue streams is still in development. High level management is still wondering where to go next.

    Poor salary, extremely limited growth potential, annual raises < 1%, reluctance to change, little to no innovation, clone and copy all competitor practices

    free snacks, free bagel thursdays

    Cons

    too little growth potential, rigid management style, micromanagement, low pay compared to national or even regional averages, nepotism, cronyism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop stealing design and operational ideas from competitors.Make your own path. Hire innovative people instead of 'yes' people. Offer more competitive salaries, promote more from within. Be transparent and give all employees a chance to grow, not just family members of senior management or friends.

    Pros

    Good people at the individual contributor level, good office location. They pay very well.

    Cons

    Leadership is deceptive and spiteful. The company makes all their money from spyware, so you'll never be proud of what you do. Nepotism abounds - anyone with influence is related to the top 2 or 3 executives. Strategy to get off spyware toolbar changes every 6 weeks, and so no changes actually ever take place. Hated by customers, their partners, and their industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None. Company is based on browser exploits and deceiving customers to install their spyware. Such people would never accept advice.

    Pros

    Good location. Snacks certainly a plus, but that doesn't pay the rent. Some managers really focus on your career growth and finding opportunities for you to advance. They are the ones that will be your champion to upper management. You're lucky if you get to work for one of them. Most of the people are an absolute joy to work with. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

    Career opportunities can be good, but it depends on the department and who you work for. The owners have good intentions, but get lost in the weeds. The President spends too much time in the day to day when he needs to be at 30,000 feet taking a look at the strategic direction of the company. A lack of vision means a lack of focus. How can we be successful without knowing where we are going? Plugging money into a dying revenue model doesn't seem to be working. Step back (all the way back) and let the brilliant people you hired do their job. The company will continue to lose (money, people, focus) if a change isn't made soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Let people do the job you hired them to do. Think about promotions and new positions in great detail before making them happen. When you survey employees, make sure to act on it afterwards, or at least follow up. Nothing drains morale like asking people what they want and then radio silence after. Stick to your decisions. Why do a bunch of layoffs, but still give increases to everyone and then do a bunch of recruiting? Money must not be an issue.

    Pros

    Free snacks and soda. Bagel Thursday. Mostly good people to work with. Good work-life balance as well.

    Cons

    Company bases most of its revenue on dying browser toolbar technology and makes questionable ethical decisions around supporting that model. Big issue as well is lack of innovation and an owner that goes back and forth on decisions while getting too involved in day to day affairs. Some entrenched directors don't help the situation. Benefits need some work as there isn't much past the obvious. Recent layoffs were called 'streamlining' but were really more about removing unwanted employees.

    Let your people run with their ideas and be willing to take risks.

    Free snacks, nice people, good pay, good work/life balance

    Cons

    There is a lack of innovation there. The company has a hard time focusing on anything other than toolbars and pixels. They take no risks and never seemed to have a cohesive vision for the future. One should be nervous about the financial stability of the company since their only revenue stream is declining rapidly, hence the recent layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If you want to retain good employees the company needs to be fun again. They really need make investments in other revenue streams since toolbar revenue is slow dying off.

    Pros

    Great company to break into the online marketing or technical operations career fields. Good for recent grads looking for a good job out of college. Many employees are picked up by better companies after a short amount of time.

    Cons

    Not exactly competitive in reguards to compinsation. The company is easier to break into because they dont attract the most experienced/qualified people. But that works great for recent grads.

    Making the site better is always going to be important but employee retention should be at the top of the list as well.

    Pros

    Met a few good people there. Learned nepotism rules here. Snacks are provided. Location is not too bad, close to I-25 and Belleview in DTC.

    Cons

    Complete lack of respect for current employees, taken advantage of and used with little pay. You won't find this out until after you're hired and see the REAL ShopAtHome. No real sense of direction for company; seem to scramble and push toward one focus only to change directions in a short time span.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take care of your employees and spend more on their salary than on snacks and coffee. Also, losing 40 + employees over a six month time period is not a good sign of a successful company. Please be original and stop running to catch up to other online, cash back retailers.
