Advice to Senior Management
Start taking more advice and guidance from your Tier B's rather than churning them out every 3 - 5 years.
Pros
- respected corporate brand
- high turnover presents opportunity to advance in quickly in certain roles
- excellent environment for an individual keen on learning.
Cons
- ongoing restructuring since 2006 has no end in sight and makes it increasingly difficult to deliver projects successfully.
- company wide morale is very low and there is growing apathy as many folks are anticipating a package
Advice to Senior Management
Bay street loves Bell and it is regarded with much respect. Could it be possible to include the acquisition, retention and development of talent as part of the strategic imperatives. Not likely, until we hit a critical point (customer impacting) which will eventually occur given the current trend.
Pros
Great Benefits, Health, pension ( has matching program 6%), RSP (can direct deposit before tax) and stock options ( 2% match). Great people.
Cons
They are down-sizing so the risk of losing a job is high. They have removed all ability to work from home. Even long time teleworkers are being told to come to the office.
Advice to Senior Management
It is backwards to remove the flexibilty to work at home. Keep more staff to not over wokr teh ones you have left.
Pros
Bell provides 30% off all Bell services such as internet and cell phone to you and your family.
Bell campus in Creek-bank is well facilitated
Cons
Under huge corporate changes thus roles are changed, and teams are downsized but with more work load for each person.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve corporate culture to encourage change and innovations from the bottom up. Don't dismiss idea from the front line for they know the customers from first hand experience.
Pros
- a lot of benefits effective on the first day
- good moral support
- nice salary
Cons
-very stressful
- need to be very flexible with schedule
Pros
Depending where you land, you may have a decent team to work with, and cuise by. The biggest plus is definitely the ability to work remotely or from home. This being only acceptable in Bell Canada and not so in other companies in the group.
Cons
Bell has become a sweatshop. Top management puts unreasonable targets in their plans to satisfy the board and the market, and then everybody has to work in a frenzy to meet impossible targets, which obviously are not met. This means low bonuses payouts, pointing fingers, questioning roles, cost cutting, extreme pressure placed on everybody... Just a lovely place to work. Employees mean nothing. It's all about share price and the bonus the executives get. Layoffs are a yearly thing and that also means that whoever stays on, will have expanded responsibilities (same low pay).
Advice to Senior Management
Please stay away from whatever companies I work in! I have no respect for executives which have no interest in their teams. We're all numbers. I have no interest in crossing paths with them again.
Pros
1.large company
2.various opportunities
3. progression upward is possible but may be a bit slow
4.training and development
Cons
1. too beaurucratic
2. culture was not good
3. lack of cross-functional movement
4. lack of mentorship by senior management
Advice to Senior Management
talk more to your people. find out why they're dissatisfied. get rid of the beaurocracy. lead by example and listen
Pros
Good conditions and advancement opportunities.
Cons
Lots os layoffs in recent years.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing in mind.
Pros
If you like technology and customers services, Bell provides opportunities for you. They recognize people demonstrating leadership and being accountable.
Cons
Frequent downsizing makes the job stressfull even when you are an above then average worker. Restructuring every 2 years, don't work at Bell if you don't like changes...
Advice to Senior Management
I would provide advice to management through an Internet site, I'm using open internal communication path to provide feedback and suggestions.
Pros
Large corporation, lots of opportunities for internal promotion. Large scope of work, large opportunity to find a position better suited to personal preference. Better-than average compensation, good middle management.
Cons
A lot of downsizing, top management doesn't seem to have decided on org structure for certain departments.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop downsizing, let people calm down and concentrate on their work.
