Pros
growing, right leader, sitll lots of bureaucratic processes from the old bell company that still need to be eliminated
Cons
customer service sucks so there are lots of client complaints - we make lots of promises that we struggle to deliver on.
Advice to Senior Management
delegate authority and don't micromanage, buy telus and be the true canada wide company that is needed to truly be an international playeer
Pros
big company with with name
Cons
too conservative and old fashioned management
Pros
Good payment strategy. Good benefits. Amazing employee discounts. Hours are also flexible if work well with supervisor.
Cons
Managers dont last on their position that long.
Pros
Decent commission structure or the position. You also always knew exactly where you stood every single day. Management was always nice to work with from a store level and corporate level. Training etc... was also a great benefit.
Cons
Sometimes you felt that there were some unjustified pressures. Company sometimes did not fully stand behind warranty but they would always push reps to sell them.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing, however, try and find more responsibilities for the top sales reps, sometimes the job can get a little boring and new challenges are typically welcomed.
Pros
Discounts as an employee
Benefits
Cons
Management
Lack of vision and leadership
Lack of opportunities
Advice to Senior Management
Don't only hire people who are like you and who support you
Pros
great family-work balance in terms of working from home
Cons
my experience has been hugely discriminatory in terms of career advancement, development and achievement towards women.
Advice to Senior Management
employees are not chess pieces to be moved from one career function to another. If you are re-organizing more than once every couple of years (and you are!) you are shuffling too often!
Pros
good place to work, but some area is needed improvement.
Cons
have some repeat work, not well balanced
Pros
Access to great training, ability to build a significant network throughout the company, decent salary and benefits. A lot of choice in jobs across the company so the ability to learn new technology is always there along with multiple customer groups that are all served differently.
Cons
Promotions can be hard to come by, in fact recently restructure has resulted in demotions based not on ability but on cost structure. The ability to have a manger mentor their employees is impacted by constant team changes - expect multiple direct management changes in a year (I averaged 4 per year) - this then impacts performance review quality. Access to training is restricted to a 1500. budget an amount that has remained the same for over 10 years. Constant restructure results in panic several times a year as job cuts are certain, there is no way to predict what side of the cuts you will be on even as a high performer. Recent changes to teleworking policy goes against the technology the company prides itself on providing to customers and long work hours impact work/life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Balance need for shareholder value with respect for employees.
Pros
Relax environment, people are friendly, great place to retire
Cons
Slow environment if you are a go getter, a lot of layers
Advice to Senior Management
pay your employees what their market value is.
Pros
Good Pay and ok benefits when active employee. New retirees have no post retirement medical/dental after 2011 when it will be phased out completely
Cons
workforce cuts on a regular basis
Advice to Senior Management
offer the same loyalty to you employees as you expect from them
