I have been working at Bell Canada part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Could take bus to work or walk

    Cons

No one gets hired full time, hours drop to 8 hours a week at times... It's sales sales sales... They use sales metric tracking system that usually is being updated during the month , so you get false info on your stats , Union does nothing but misuse time allocated for fighting for employees for personal monkey business . They rip you off of commissions ... Hierarchy of Bell is similar to the nazis running concentration camps during ww2... Mostly outsourced to other places like stream for minimum wage... Then bell has the balls to ask Canadians to fight to keep Verizon out ...

    Advice to Management

Bring back high paying jobs to london and any town you do business in or hello Verizon

  2. Not the place to be if you consider morale and communications to be important.

    Pros

Good pay and good benefits. A known name for outside recruitement.

    Cons

Senior management takes company wide decision and your manager as to apply it even when he finds it absurd. Absolutely no respect or recognition for employees. Learn major announcements about the company in the paper. Vice-President's bonus depends exclusively on how much they can reduce expenses. All decisions are made to assure short term profits, no more long-term decisions. Employees who where fired (nor for incompetence but due to reorganisations) were ask to meet in an office and fired by a unknown consultant and asked to leave through the other door (personal will be shipped to you in a box). Unbelievable.

    Advice to Management

Bell use to have 40'000 "sales reps", now employees have rogers cell phones... Employee morale is major concern and affects drastically the production, the image of the company and the ability to hire and retain good employees.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

financial renumeration and the benefits package

    Cons

communication is lacking, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing, promotions are done on the buddy system not on qualifications

    Advice to Management

better screening of employees from both a union and management perspective due to poor management and lack of knowledge in leadership skills. More question periods and interactive sessions with employees from all levels of management including executive level

This could have been a great place to work for if not for the train wreck of corporate structuring.

    Pros

Only reason I would suggest working for Bell Mobility is to have a free cell phone plan.

    Cons

Where to begin....a company so large in operations and size yet so narrow in corporate structure. Morale is largely dependent on quality of your manager(s) - of which there are many questionable.

    Advice to Management

Need to improve the quality of management - soft skills traning.

    Pros

Compensation. Used to be a great place to work. Great Brand recognition has gone down in flames though. Many good people who work at Bell, most, unfortunately, very frustrated now.

    Cons

Unbelievably poor processes lead to customers who dislike Bell and colleagues who dislike Bell. All around bad experience. Customers who are moving to Bell quickly become frustrated and regret their decision. It is tough enough to gain a customer and as soon as the 'internal processes' begin their snails pace of mistakes and lack of support, it becomes impossible to keep that customer happy from a sales perspective. I have begun to feel guilty when I 'gain' a customer for Bell. How pathetic is that?

    Advice to Management

GET RID OF THE LAYERS upon layers of 'support' and 'management'.

    Pros

Pay and Benefits...other than that nothing

    Cons

Incompetent senior mgmt, slash mentality, executive top heavy, no respect for employees even after 30 years. The company has taken a different direction than it was 10 years ago, it was all about customer service and the employees..now it is all about the bottom line. Sabia brought this company to it's knees fattened up the upper ranks and made so many silos that most of the time you had NO idea of who to call to get something done, it was too process driven, too slow to react to the market...too much red tape. Now that the takeover deal has died...Sabia walks away a VERY rich man.

    Advice to Management

    Wake UP!

    Pros

Used to be a great place to work and was proudly Canadian.

    Cons

Outsourcing of jobs, downsizing of employees (annually just before the Holidays) -- this place has gone down the toilet. -- Ma Bell has become the Nasty Step-mother of the Telecommunications arena.

    Advice to Management

Get out while you can. Run, and don't look back.

    Pros

    Pension Tele-work Vacation Annual Bonus

    Cons

Salary - No raises in 4 years. Vacation - You're given it but workload doesn't always allow you to take it Overtime - Plenty of it but without compensation (either time off or actually dollars) Perks - No credit cards, no company cars, nadda Bonus - after years of getting one, I still haven't figured out the exact formula 2011/2012 - Mass exodus of valuable/experienced staff expected to reach eligible retirement age. No more dedicated career employees.

    Advice to Management

The success of this company is based on the hard work and efforts of its employees. Stop outsourcing jobs....this company was successful because of dedicated staff, not through penny pinching Pay your employees what they're actually worth and some of them might actually stay to rebuild what has been destroyed. Make work/life balance a reality not just a phrase you spit out once a year.
