Pros
Great learning experience as an entry level employee, I enjoyed incentive trips they had planned and exposure to other departments.
Cons
the pay scale was way off and the management had great industry knowledge but poor management skills making it difficult to come in with no industry knowledge and to grow.
Advice to Senior Management
Please support the growth of future careers at Bell Microproducts and continue to give responsibility to those that are seeking it.
Pros
Team environment, colleagues were great to work with.
Cons
Not much room for growth
Advice to Senior Management
N/A
Pros
Excellent technical knowledge of peers. Highly co-operative environment. Some very long serving employees.
Cons
Very numbers focussed. Despite "IKITE" there has been a steady shift away from providing great service onto continuously closing deals. Individuals are rarely praised for going beyond the call of duty. The company has made numerous layoffs in the past 12 months. They've also stopped contributing to employees pension fund. Finally, with the imminent takeover by AVNet, people are becoming highly self protecting at the expense of the business.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a look at how you present your company. Coming up with marketing slogans in line with latest fashion and THEN looking for solutions to fit the marketing is only building on sand.
Pros
Very good work enviornment for everyone
Cons
nothing bad about this place
Advice to Senior Management
good work
Pros
- Great people, fun environment overall
- Fast-paced sometimes, many challenges
- No shortage of things to do (take this point as you may)
- Good benefits package, some fringe benefits and good focus on employees and families
- Depending on your manager, good growth potential within your position (sideways, not up)
Cons
- Sometimes things happen without your knowledge (you get new responsibilities you didn't know you were going to have)
- Need to be creative to overcome challenges and management blocks
- No shortage of things to do (example: processes are flawed in some places or don't exist)
- Aging system/IT infrastructure for many depts leaves much to be desired
- Some tunnel vision is apparent
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to look at employee complaints in a more serious light, review suggetions/comments and provide reasonable feedback, and offer a long-term company roadmap to build confidence in everyone.
Pros
dynamic environment, encourages creativity, teamwork. On a strong growth curve. All members are encouraged to speak up and out regarding processes and proceedures. The comapany is loyal to its employees and expects same back. Company recognizes that mistakes can be learned from and encourages risk taking. All employees are empowered and encouraged to participate in the process.
There are many long term employees and there are many opportunities to move within the company. The company has offices all ove the globe with the exception of the far east. Our customers are surprised at the personal level of attention they receive from Bell Micro. Bell stays close to its customers in a far more superior manner than its competition.
Cons
Have been 1/2 step behind in leading edge benefits, but improving significantly.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior in depth advanced financial training for key employees. Especially sales and marketing personnel.
