Great boost to learning corporate experience

    Technical Support (Former Employee)
    Mississauga, ON (Canada)

ProsAll working staff act professionally and are great people to network with.
The working environment is extremely good. There are little to none working politics involved which is great motivator.

ConsBell Mobility needs to develop more social programs where employees can contribute and give back to the community in social events such as blood drive and more.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeeping passionate employees motivated will always boost productivity.

    Time not well spent

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Mississauga, ON (Canada)

ProsSome really good people to work with..but most of the good people are let go.

ConsThe culture is to obscure information, or maybe that is the industry. 7 years after I started the system finally tells you how many minutes you have left on your account.

Advice to Senior ManagementAny part of Bell should be a leader, transparent and honorable.

A good place to start, but compensation is lacking and perks are disappearing bit by bit.

Small Business Account Associate (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsDecent pay for entry level and sales jobs can pay quite well. Good work life balance, if you have the right manager. Excellent benefits and very generous vacation allowance.

ConsSalary is based on at target earnings. When targets are raised the commission per sale decreases; if your target goes up 20% you must increase your sales volume 20% to make the same compensation as before. In order to hit numbers reps are often pushed into morally grey areas by managers who will deny any involvement if the rep is ever investigated.

Career advancement is something that is always promised, but never delivered. You will have higher level positions dangled in front of you, but they will have already pre-selected the candidate they want to hire; they only go through the motions of posting it to make it appear that there are opportunities.

Used to have an unlimited cell phone plan, but now it has a data cap and new hires don't get this perk anymore.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you bite the hand that feeds you by cutting your salespeople's compensation don't be surprised when they leave to work for your competitors and bring your customers with them!

    Went down hill over time

    Store Manager (Former Employee)
    Red Deer, AB (Canada)

Prosat first it was a real learning experience. running a store was like running a small business, you had a lot of leeway to make your own decisions and learn from them whether it was good or bad. you didnt have someone micromanaging you all the time but had support when you needed it.
the pay scale and bonuses were decent but not spectacular.

Consover time, there became a much more micromanage culture. a store manager could no longer make most of the decisions about his/her store. everything from hiring to scheduling to inventory was either computer controlled or required regional manager approval. even sales coaching was micromanaged from a regional level. it became a bit much.

Advice to Senior Managementhire good people, pay them properly, and let them do the job you hired them for. dont micro manage. if they have proven themselves in the past, let them continue to succeed in their own way. every store and manager is different and trying to paint them all with the same brush or use the same techniques will not be productive.
