BellSouth Software Engineer in Atlanta, GA:   (Past Employee - 2006)

Pros

BellSouth is a gigantic company. It's very easy to blend into the woodwork and collect a paycheck. This is definitely a corporation that encourages "lifers". There is an abundance of people that collect a paycheck but are virtually non existent.

Cons

BellSouth is full of talentless assclowns. They have the budget to conquer the world but their leadership is severely lacking. You have talented contractors being tasked by idiots who spend their time thinking up new buzzwords and TPS reports.

Advice to Senior Management

Keep on doing what you're doing. Heck of a job fellas.

BellSouth Senior Director in Atlanta, GA:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Great benefits, congenial atmosphere, interesting issues to work on. Benefits are amazing, and you can retire in your early 50s quite nicely if you make a career there. If you get high enough, you can have a great work-life balance, and they encourage civic involvement on company time.

Cons

Advancement is more a matter of having an easygoing personality and avoiding conflict as it iis based on capability. If you point out problems and try to tackle them, you will be seen as a troublemaker. It's good for someone who doesn't want to put too much of themselves into their work.

Advice to Senior Management

Spend your merger bonuses well and enjoy. IIt's a shame we had to be the ones eaten instead of the ones doing the eating, but our failed IPTV strategy and inability to get new products out the door sealed that fate.

BellSouth Sales Associate in Miami, FL:   (Current Employee)

The new at&t

Pros

The compensation, benefits, work environment, and the ability to work in any depatment in the organization at any location globally. They will train you to do any jobs in the company. The current CEO started as a technician in the field and worked his way up to CEO.

Cons

There is no flexibility in scheduling. Bellsouth/Att does not care about you going to school, family, or immediate health. They want you to be at work everyday, with 12 hours of overtime weekly, and work 6 days a week if they can convience you to do so. No matter how valuable you really are, they will fire you or downsize a complete department without hesitation.

Advice to Senior Management

Listen to what employees are saying and try to help employees cope with difficult situations, even if you cannot change the situation. Do not act like every change is always good change.
